Imported text to keep existing style

Recommended Posts

We are transitioning from Quark. We need to import plain text (from emails) into text fields already set up on our templates. The templates have font/size/colour options already in place and we need to just cut and paste in the new text and have it keep the same style as the template text. We don't want to create styles and have to apply them to each text field after we import....I am sure it is a simple fix ...can you let me know how to do this. Cheers Nick.

If you already have a paragraph style and/or colour applied to an empty text frame, then Edit-Paste Without Format will pick those up and apply them to the pasted text.

But to be serious, you could change that shortcut to something a bit less finger-bending. Cmd-K on MacOS for example.

Be nice to set this as a preference.  - Cmd+Opt+Shift+V on macOS - I can only use two fingers at a time on a keyboard!🙂

I've changed mine to Cmd-K. Most of the other Cmd+single key shortcuts are taken.
