Hani Hamdan
Hello. When stitching a panorama, I get a very pixelated photo that gets stitched too quickly. My panorama is 7 RAW images and I'm on the latest iOS version on iPad Pro. Thanks in advance for your help!
Staff Chris B Posted September 9, 2020 Staff Share Posted September 9, 2020 Hey Hani Hamdan, welcome to the Affinity Forums. What format are the raw files in? Could I ask you to upload them to this private Dropbox folder so I can have a go? https://www.dropbox.com/request/klp1foSfrSyk1gYN7n5R Thanks! Lakefarm
So sorry, but I never got notified of your response (from last year!) and I'm still having the same problem. My RAW files are in NEF format from the Nikon Z7. Much appreciated and sorry for not knowing that you replied. I'm running iOS 14.8 on the M1 iPad Pro 12.9". If you'd like me to upload the images, please send a new link.
Staff Chris B Posted September 15, 2021 Staff Share Posted September 15, 2021 Hey @Lakefarm I've made a new folder. Can you drop them in here please: https://www.dropbox.com/request/GaXz3mqNeG5rfgRU1Z7i Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
Lakefarm
Thank you. I've just uploaded the 3 images. I'm not sure if the upload was in full resolution and in the original format because it happened too fast. I'll work on uploading the images in their original format (NEF RAW). Lakefarm
Ok - I finally figured it out. Please discard the first 3 images I uploaded and use the next 3 that I'm uploading right now. Thank you!
Staff Chris B Posted September 15, 2021 Staff Share Posted September 15, 2021 Thanks for the files. I've just ran them on iOS using both the Apple Core and Seirf Labs raw engines and the images are not pixelated for me. Can you save the .afphoto file for me and send it over? Lakefarm
When I pull the photos into the stitching panel, they show as .tiff files. The pixelation happens even if I pull one of the three photos using "Import from Photos". This doesn't happen if I try to edit them in other apps like Pixelmator or Adobe. Lakefarm
Also, this seems to happen sporadically with certain photos from my Z7. Not sure why. I always shoot the same photo quality under the same settings and import them into my iPad the same way. I tried restarting the iPad and uninstalling and reinstalling Affinity Photo but it's still doing the same thing for these three photos specifically. Staff Chris B Posted September 16, 2021 Staff Share Posted September 16, 2021 They should not be coming in as tiff if they are nef files - I can't even think how that would happen. I jsut imported from Cloud and selected the three nef files you sent me. Update - sorry just noticed you're using Photos. AFAIK they will be passed through as TIFF as Photos doesn't pass raw files unless you process them then and there. TIFF should be fine but the blurryness is worrying. Staff Chris B Posted September 16, 2021 Staff Share Posted September 16, 2021 Hi Lakefarm, Ok there's a bug with portrait .nef files coming in from Photos. They are coming in pixelated. I'll speak to development. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
Lakefarm
Thank you for finding that out! Yesterday I took another 2 batches of photos to make 2 panoramas and the same thing happened in both. They were both in portrait. If I load the NEF photos from Photos using Pixelmator, then export them as TIFF back into Photos, then Affinity can stitch them with no problem. Staff Chris B Posted September 16, 2021 Staff Share Posted September 16, 2021 That's good to hear. It looks like this bug has been hitting a number of people and I've been totally unaware of it. I've updated the developers so hopefully we can find a fix for this!
