Export Persona creates slices off by < 1 pixel and 1 pixel too large

Recommended Posts

I just created a new artboard, placed a graphic on it (that fits nicely within the artboard). Then clicked on export persona to export that artboard just to find the auto-created slice is placed fractures of a pixel off of the 0/0 point and the slice is 1 pixel too large. Looking at all the other artboards in the same file they all seem to have the same issue. I only noticed it know because I had to create channel art for Roku where the pixel sizes are a must requirement and mine were off.

Even when trying to correct the x/y values for the slice I sometimes have to enter the value "0" twice, because even after changing it to "0" and hitting enter it would nudge right back to some fracture like 0.3 px.

It is likely that your artboards are either:

  • Not located on integral X/Y coordinates; or
  • Do not have sizes that are an integral number of pixels.

If you select one of them and then select the Move Tool, and look in the Transform studio panel you can check those conditions. You may need to increase the number of decimal places for px units in Preferences, User Interface, to see this.

If their position is off, you can adjust it by:

  • Re-typing the values in the X/Y Transform panel boxes without the decimal places; or
  • setting the proper Snapping options (Force Pixel Alignment on, Move by Whole Pixels off) and nudging them. (Using these Snapping options will also help ensure that the problem doesn't happen in the future.)
