Subclavius
Winding fill mode misses some intersections of shapes (drawn with pen and node tools) when they are all on one layer. Please see pics for views of Alternate and Winding modes Missing areas have to be filled in manually which is not only annoying but very time consuming. Staff Sean P Posted September 1, 2020 Staff Share Posted September 1, 2020 Hi Subclavius, I'm not sure this is a bug, however without seeing the file I cannot be sure. When using Winding mode the direction of the curve (can be seen by enabling 'Show Orientation' on the Node Tool's context toolbar) will decide whether areas are filled or not. If you have clockwise curves overlapping anti-clockwise curves then you will get intersections like you're seeing. You need to be sure all curves are running in the same direction when using Winding. To change direction just select a node from the curve you want to change and then click 'Reverse Curve' button on the context toolbar. See attached screenshot - observe with both curves running the same direction it gets filled, with one of the curves running in the opposite direction it will not be filled. Subclavius
Hi @Sean P Thank you. That is indeed the problem. Now I also understand the reason why there's a Reverse Curve button! Apologies for the title of the post by the way, most of it seems to have got lost. Have now amended it. This thread can be closed.
