Staff Chris B Posted April 28, 2020 Staff Posted April 28, 2020 Hey Johnny, welcome to the forums. There's an issue in 1.8.3 that causes the app to freeze when reordering layers if the panel is floating. This has been fixed in the beta. I haven't seen any issues renaming layers though. Would you be able to install the beta and see if you can reproduce the layer freeze:https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/112353-affinity-photo-windows-customer-beta-184647/ This beta will install alongside your retail version. Johnny Grilo Posted April 28, 2020 Author Posted April 28, 2020 Thank you, I will give a try using the beta then. Quote
Lenni Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Hello, I'm also having the same issues with photo freezing when working with multiple layers. Doing photo restoration and recolor, I can only add one layer at a time. The program freezes but fortunately I am still able to save my work. Freezes also when adding a selection into a layer, the selection appears but unable to move. The freehand selection tool also causes the program to freeze when using it a second time. Photo was running very smoothly until the upgrade to 1.8.3.641, windows 10. Also use Designer and Publisher and no problems with either. I have downloaded the beta version and all is good. Completed a project with 18 layers without an issue. Is there a fix for the current version of Photo? Thank you, Lenni Quote
Staff Chris B Posted May 4, 2020 Staff Posted May 4, 2020 Hey Lenni, We normally do internal testing on using the beta and offer the beta to people who may be 'stuck' due to a particular bug. Once we are satisfied with the testing and that no regressions have been made, the fixes will be pushed live (to the retail versions). I'm afraid I don't know when that will be. However if you need to use the current beta for your work, that's fine but be vigilant and perhaps consider working on a duplicate/copy just to be safe.
