patrick505 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 I am trying to create a white cutout of the light bulb in the tree leaving the "stump" (base of light bulb) green. I tried contrast negate blend mode and an invert adjustment but they turn the bulb pink (as they should). I want to do exactly what these filters are doing but have white instead of pink. I know I can obviously adjust the original object shapes to make it work but I would rather not do that. Erase blend mode almost works but then the "stump" disappears. Any idea how I can achieve white with a color with a blend mode type thing? Thanks Quote
G13RL Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 I'm afraid the blend won't work. If you don't want to do a Xor operation, you can use a white/green gradient on the bulb to preserve the base. Quote
patrick505 Posted April 8, 2020 Author Posted April 8, 2020 Thank you. I cant get the Xor to work (greyed out). Excuse my ignorance, how do you get a hard edge on the gradient? Quote
firstdefence Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 You could also duplicate the bulb change the duplicates blend mode to colour dodge and shorten the duplicates trunk to meet the base of the tree. I was trying with blend modes but it would be as easy to duplicate the bulb and have two coloured versions one white one green with the white one having a shorter trunk. G13RL Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 For Xor you have to select both shapes (the fir tree and the bulb) but the bulb will be transparent and not white, if there is a background it will be visible. For the sharp gradient, superimpose a green point and a white point, both exactly in the same place (for example 50%). Quote
