When I try to deselect nodes in Affinity Designer, holding Ctrl is not working for me. When I hold Ctrl the minus symbol in the node tool icon doesn't appear.

Hi Joham,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Are you running macOS or Windows?
On macOS, you have to press and hold CTRL and draw a marquee around the selected nodes to remove them from the selection.
On Windows you have to press and hold the right and left mouse button simultaneously, draw a marquee around the selected nodes and release the left mouse button to remove them from the selection.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Argghh... can't edit my mistake in the above.

I think you mean Command. That is my experience.

Okay, I have been (mis)reading at cross purposes I thought we were selecting using the Pen tool, not the Node tool.
