I have been using an iXpand flash drive to free up space on my 64 GB iPad Pro by exporting developed RAW images onto this drive. For some reason it has stopped working. Any ideas as to why it stopped working? And, can you tell me if there is a flash drive that is compatible with Affinity Photo for iPad, or another suggestion for storing these files to free up space. I am a novice at this, so any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I suspect there is a bug associated with saving to flash storage. A workaround is to export your modified copies and save to a folder on iPad. Plug in your iXpand drive and open files. Navigate Files to folder with images, select all and move/copy to expand drive. Delete from folder after transfer to free up space. I haven’t had any issues transferring to iXpand using files.🙂

Hi Patrickdavid :)

We always recommend saving and loading locally in Affinity apps where possible, as we don't load the whole document into memory when loading in order to preserve resources, which means the app may need to access the file location even after you've started editing on it. As external drives can be easily disconnected or damaged, this can cause corruptions in saving files. For this reason, we always recommend working from a local location, then copying your work to an external drive after the fact, as DM1 has mentioned.

I hope this helps!
