I'm on a 30 day trial with Affinity. To save time I'll get into tutorials later. I do a lot of bird photography so my most important thing is final image sharpness/detail for web viewing. This is what I always test first. I do my work using another editor so NR, capture, creative sharpening, etc is complete. Import that file into Affinity with the intent to edit for export sharpening and downsampling.

I noticed the 3 sharpen filers. That I can figure out myself but I'm just not sure what Clarity means. While I'm here which one would you choose for my my purposes?

Downsampling. I can do this by using Resize Document but that is also available on the Export page. No matter how what I have tried the Export page will not resize my file. The Resize Document will. It seems it would be simpler to do this on the Export page.

The 5 resampling options. I am familiar with the first 3 and have heard about Lanczos. I typically downsample from about 6720 x 4480 to 1024 to 1280 - on the long side. Any links or workflow suggestions to get started would be helpful. I have been using the same process for many years so I'm a little rusty. Just thought I'd check some other software out.

I did watch a few tutorials on YouTube but never go the answers I was looking for.  Thanks in advance.

Clarity sharpens midtones and adds texture, it kind of goes hand in hand with contrast.

You can call it microcontrast. Enhances textures, like feathers on birds. It does not replace normal sharpening (USM).

It should work OK. Enter new pixel values and export (with right downsampling method), resulting file should have new pixel dimensions.

I would use Lanczos for downsample. Last one is probably sharper (oversharpened with antialiasing artifacts?) but the difference should not be big.
