Affin Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 (edited) When selecting with the color picker or sampler, you can only sample one color at a time (as far as I am aware of). Yet while there are combination keys available (ALT or SHIFT), it would be handy to be able to gather data near the cursor when selecting for more precise selection and the ability to set 2 colors (both the Front and Back color) with the same action. By either using ALT while selecting and/or by using SHIFT during selection you get one or both of the following: I -> LMB -> pick the color you sample for slot 1 (Front Color or Color 1) I -> SHIFT+LMB -> pick the color you sample for slot 2 (Back Color or Color 2) optional: I -> ALT+LMB -> show data about the color you are about to sample (Magnified pixel sample shown next to the cursor and/or the HEX data (or the relevant color data from the color space, like is when holding pressed) This would help to faster select the colors, and be more precise in selection, without the need of all menus and icon in view or moving your eyes away from the cursor, where you try to pinpoint your sample, or gather information from. Rick G Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Can you not just hit "X" to switch the colors? "I" invokes the color picker so if you select the first color then hit "XI" you are ready to pick the second one If you need to select a LOT of colors and have to save them or just want the various color space codes handy, try this... Affin Posted March 17, 2020 Author Posted March 17, 2020 Thank you for your input Rick G. Yes using X is the only (fast) approach to work with as far as I am aware of. Yet my goal is to work with as few steps or actions required to accomplish anything. Time is limited, time is costly and unnecessary repetition is therefor a waste. i > X > LMB > X again > continue with front color [4] i > alt+LMB > continue with front color [2] On a side note: that link you gave looks very interesting and I may give it a go. Yet I am very careful when using 3rd party extensions/additions if not required (they need maintenance, security and may break things outside the scope of the core developers, so I prefer to stick to as 'default' and 'bare' a solution as possible -> if it can be done and it is better, then the core software should adept (to) it, rather then working around it with 3rd party solutions). That said: this looks very interesting, thank you for sharing! Westerwälder and PaulAffinity 1 1 Quote
