Therefore here the attempt in english, excuse me it is a machine translation! Hello, since installing the new update 1.8.0.585 the start of Designer or Photo is aborted after a short time. If I start one of the mentioned programs it will be aborted and closed after about 5 seconds without comment! Widestone Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Make a copy of your Affinity USER Directory --- NOT the Program Directory. Then rename the *.propcol files (for assets, raster brushes and vector brushes) in the submenu .../Affinity/Photo/1.0/user and .../Affinity/Designer/1.0/user Now run one of them. Then you can bring back the renamed files one by one and start the program after every restore of a file. So you can check, which file is the bad one. Quote

Staff Leigh Posted March 2, 2020 Staff Posted March 2, 2020 Thanks for replying. Do you use a font manager at all? I know this sounds simple but have you restarted your machine since installing the update? Quote
Schorsch Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 (edited) Thank you, too,, To question 1: I have a font manager installed but I never use it. To question 2: Since installing the update I have rebooted the computer several times without success, affinity works or does not work as it should. Friendly greetings Georg Edited March 2, 2020 by Schorsch Screenshot of the Font Manager added Quote
Staff Leigh Posted March 3, 2020 Staff Posted March 3, 2020 Thanks for replying Schorsch. Unfortunately, we're aware of this issue and our developers are investigating. I can only suggest that you downgrade to 1.7.3 to continue using the app with the startup issues. When I have more information, I will let you know. Quote
Schorsch Posted March 11, 2020 Author Posted March 11, 2020 Hallo zusammen, es gibt Neues zum Startproblem mit Version 1.8, zumindest für Windows Anwender. Today I got the latest cumulative Windows 10 update (KB4540673 installed. ----- After installing the Windows update I tested the start of the affinity programs. Schorsch Posted March 11, 2020 Author Posted March 11, 2020 Hallo zusammen, habe mich leider zu früh gefreut! My next test to open a photo in the directory using the "open with" function with Affinity Photo failed. Since then the old erroneous behaviour with the abort after 5 seconds is unfortunately back. Staff Leigh Posted March 12, 2020 Staff Posted March 12, 2020 Hi @Schorsch I just wanted to let you know that we have released a new beta build for both Affinity Photo and Designer on Windows that will hopefully improve/fix our apps from crashing on startup when loading fonts. Can you download and install to see if the app(s) starts without any issues? Quote
