askeyt Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Hi everyone! How would I go about aligning 25 objects evenly distributed into a 5 x 5 grid? There doesn't seem to be any functionality for this in the align option unless one of you genius wizards could show me how? Thanks for any help in advance! Quote
firstdefence Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 In the align option there is the option to space by a given amount. Alfred Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @askeyt. Unless I’m missing something, you should be able to achieve your stated aim quite easily: evenly distribute the five objects in each row and group them, and then evenly distribute the five groups. I’m sorry I couldn’t offer any help in advance! askeyt Posted January 23, 2020 Author Posted January 23, 2020 Thanks for the replies but it still doesn't seem to work for me? As per the below screenshot, I have squares in a 3 x 5 formation, but when I try to align them it does this (bottom pic)? Quote
firstdefence Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Create a square. Duplicate it 5 times (cmd or ctrl(win)+ J) Make sure all the squares are selected Click on the align icon Align Horizontally: Use the far right icon (Space Horizontally) Uncheck Auto distribute Specify the gap you want between the squares in the input to the left of Auto distribute. Click: Done You should now have a horizontal row of squares spaced evenly, so as my example I used 15 px. Now we are going to group those squares and duplicate the group 5 times Select all 5 squares and press cmd or ctrl(win) + G to group the squares Duplicate the group 5 times make sure all the groups are selected Click on the align icon Align vertically: Use the far right icon (Space vertically) Uncheck Auto distribute Specify the gap you want between the squares in the input to the left of Auto distribute. Click: Done You should now have a grid of squares spaced evenly horizontally and vertically, so as my example I used 15 px. Made a short tut vid to go with the instructions. askeyt Posted January 24, 2020 Author Posted January 24, 2020 Ahhhh! It's the grouping of the original squares I needed to do! Can tell I'm a newbie! That's great! Thanks so much! What a great community of helpful people! Quote
