Hi, Affinity forum members,
I'm Jun Kim, a friendly user of Affinity Designer (AD). Thank you for developing this wonderful tool.
One question is that in my field of data science, I deal with huge data, which is why a picture file often contains hundreds to tens of thousands of objects (curves, texts, ...). Its visualized data are usually saved as a pdf, so I used to open the pdf in AD and use the contents by copying and pasting it. Recently, however, it was difficult to use AD because it took ~ a few minutes even to select objects because of too large data. Since their relative positions are fixed, it seems to be possible to speed up AD if they can be merged into one.

I would be really grateful if I can merge these many, many objects into a single object and speed up AD.
Thank you so much!
Best wishes,
Jun.

* Note that I have tried "Add" or "Merge Curves" in Layer-> Geometry, but both could not be used because the color of individual objects was not preserved. I want to be able to merge objects as exactly what I see on the screen.

The only option I can see is to group these layers, this will maintain colour references and organise the layer structure better, you can rename the groups to help identify the blocks of data.

Hi Jun Kim and Welcome to the Forums,

You might like to try the 1.8 beta of Designer from here.  As some work has been done to deal with PDFs like these and you should find when opening your PDF in 1.8 items are imported into groups :)

The beta installs alongside the release build, so no need to uninstall anything.
