Hi all

I'm new to Affinity photo and having a few small issues.

Im trying to open a second image into affinity but when I do its all pixelated, its a RAW DNG image (from a DJI manic 2)

I find when i start a new project and open a RAW image it seems to open correctly in the RAW edit work space. Then when I try to ‘Place’ an image, it opens up with no detail (all pixelated)

thanks for any help in advance.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, Tom.

You should Open your RAW image files, and Develop them. Placing them without Opening them first (and any other Affinity workflow other than Open) does not perform the full development process.

However, I would not have expected Placed RAW files to be pixelated. They would generally show up darker than desired, and perhaps with some other image flaws, but not pixelation. So I' not quite sure what you might be seeing.

Thanks for the reply, I’m not sure why it opens in this format, the picture in the centre of the screen is a DNG (RAW Image).

i can work around this issue by editing the second RAW image in Lightroom, saving it to my iPad then placing the image in Affinity.

@Tomchap1 Placing an image uses a different method and with RAW files it seems to load a low res preview with borders. This has been logged with the developers to look into further. You already have one workaround, another would be to open the RAW file in Photo and then export to a new compatible file (TIF, JPEG) and then use Place with that file instead.
