I "Place" images into a document, save (hitting the <- ) to leave the document and then return to it, the images placed are destroyed and pixelated. If possible could you also attach some of the files you are trying to place? I've just tried it myself and it seems to working as intended (using both Import from Photos and Import from Cloud). Of course when I go to record, the issue disappears. I noticed it when using multiple artboards in a file that I open from the cloud that was started in the desktop version. I will keep trying to see if I can catch it again.
