index over yearly volume of 6 magazines

Recommended Posts

Hi there, is it possible to create an index over 6 magazines which come out in one year? It means there is one magazine produced every two month. In the last magazine of the year shall be published an index overlooking all 6 seperated files. Each file has 100 pages A4.

Thank you

You would need to merge all six into one .afpub file to create that index.

That might be possible in the current 1.8 beta of Publisher.

Why?

I would generate the indexes/TOCs in each issue as I go along and copy the stuff into a text file and place it into the last issue.

At least until such time as there is a book file format and if it incorporates indexing from each file.

Yes, that could work, too, but it doesn't sound like what has been done so far.

By the way: @rubeekon: Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

Thank you, Walt, that facilitates my decision for Affinity Publisher. I am changing from InDesign CS 4, didn`t want to go the subscription model of Adobe, and now need a new computer with Mac Catalina 64 bit... And I have the impression the Serif people are very engaged and motivated. I have no problems with some program crashes, startet InDesign with version 1.0 – after using Quark and PageMaker ;-) Best regards Rolf
