Affinity Designer - how to cut a "matrix"

Recommended Posts

I need some suggestion for the following problem :

I have a matrix of symbols (see image matrix - A) that I put inside the layer of a curve (see image matrix - B).

I need to cut all the symbol and delete whatever is outside the curve including any portion of symbol cut by the curve. Unfortunately it's not enough to put the matrix inside the curve layer.

The reason is that when I export in PDF and then convert in DXF for my laser cutter the complete matrix reappears again.

I tried to be as clear as possible if not I do apologize.

Thanks for any help.

This thread might be of some use: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/66966-deleting-overlapping-linesshapes-boolean-operations-do-not-work-no-shape-builder-no-knife-tool-no-vector-erasure/&
Basically, I think, if I have interpreted the posts correctly, because Designer was created to make PDFs it’s not ‘tooled up’ properly to make things that are perfect for giving to cutting machines (laser cutters and engravers).
There may be some shortcuts instead of having to do everything manually (see above link) but you will probably still have some work to do to get what you want.
