Geometry not working for two shapes

Recommended Posts

I have used the Geometry feature easily on other projects and once had this same problem but it somehow got it working.

The problem is, I'm trying to Subtract a small crescent shape from the corner of a rectangle. When I select both, only the Divide option shows up and I can't change it to Subtract. Any thoughts?

You can't use a vector object to remove a part from a raster object, You can however change the blend mode of the crescent to erase and the will make the pixels underneath the crescent transparent.

Another option would be to trace the green shape with the pen tool to make a vector version and then you will be able to boolean subtract the crescent from the new green vector shape. In fact if you traced with the pen tool you wouldn't really need the crescent because you could make the curve you want anyway.

in the past I have done the same thing (make a shape, make another shape, and Subtract) with no problem.

Your green "shape" is a raster object, not a vector object. Presumably you did something different when creating it than you did in the past, where you must have been working with vector shapes.
