  1. An accessibility improvement such as a hotkey for the "Protect Alpha" option would cause a great improvement in digital painting workflow as this option is used many times throughout the process of a single digital painting in most techniques. In Photoshop it is possible to assign a hotkey for this as far as I know. In AP the only way to do this is by clicking the button that hides in a dropdown menu (shown on the attached pic) when using Affinity on a laptop (which has smaller screen than desktop monitors - on a big desktop monitor the option is normally showing in the same toolbar). There should also be the option to customize the tools in the said context toolbar. When it comes to the brush context toolbar, the customization option would allow me to hide the "Symmetry" and "Mirror" tools since I hardly ever use them and make space on the screen for the "Protect Alpha" tool that I use all the time. I've seen someone on the Affinity Photo forum raise tha case of "Protect Alpha" hiding in a dropdown menu. I believe that the customizable context toolbar would help not only digital painters often needing to toggle "Protect Alpha", but also users across variety of disciplines to improve their workflow in Affinity software.
  2. Protect Alpha Affinity Photo tutorial In this YouTube #Shorts Affinity Photo tutorial I show in less than 60 seconds how easy it is to shade or color something without going out of the lines by using Protect Alpha. This is a short version of my full tutorial. https://youtu.be/tYAVRmWVhwI #Shorts #protectalpha #shade #madeinaffinity #affinityphoto #affinityserif #tutorial #photomanipulation #graphicdesign #affinity #digitallyfearless
  3. Power tools of Affinity #29. Protect Alpha vs Clipping Mask Affinity Photo Tutorial. When should you use Protect Alpha in Affinity Photo and why? This Digitally Fearless tutorial shows how to do it in both the desktop version and iPad version of Affinity Photo. https://youtu.be/J7FhTQUQ7D8 #affinityphoto #clippingmask #digitallyfearless
  5. In fullscreen, the protect alpha toggle is hidden under a dropdown. It seems like the program thinks there's not enough space beside the wet edges toggle. Please place it beside wet edges just as if the windows are not full screen and stretched a bit. Or at least enable us to move the toggles order. It's kinda annoying to have to do an extra step since I use protect alpha toggle a lot.
  6. Minimum blur seems to have an issue. Is that black and white rim normal? Sure would be nice to be able to upload videos protect alpha, no circular - black rim Protect alpha - circular enabled Protect alpha not enabled
  7. I would like to use Affinity Designer and Photo as my main tools for illustration I the future. I have already unsubscribed from Adobe CC and left the excellent Photoshop and Illustrator. Still there are some things that I like to see in Affinity Photo and Designer (Pixel Persona) to make them suite all my needs. I list them here: Protect Alpha on each separate layer. Just like masking separate layers. Protect alpha is quicker, but both methods are good in their own way. The “global” protect alpha is a bit odd. Never seen that before. Separate layers protect alpha, please! Free Rotate Canvas, not just 15o,15o, 15o….Photoshop got Free rotate canvas, Clip Studio got it, Painter got it, ArtRage got it…. so why not AffD and AffP? Line Smoothing. Just like in Clip Studio or Lazy Nezumi … makes line drawing very much more easy when u use bitmap lines. Pattern Creation tool for seamless patterns. I know you can make artboards to create them … it is a bit clumsy and takes some effort. I guess it is good for vector stuff, not so much for bitmaps, I think. In Corel Painter, it is very easy to make a seamless pattern or paper texture. It would be nice to see a tool like the one in Painter inside AffD and AffP in Pixel Persona. Pattern Fill / Texture fill. Not only colour or gradient fill but also, just like in Clip Studio, ArtRage, Painter and Photoshop, where you also can make scalable texture and pattern fills. Blue Sketch. Well, on importing a layer as reference or a graphite sketch it would be very convenient to make a Blue Sketch using just one click, just like in Clip Studio. I made a script for that, but an icon in the layer’s panel makes it quick and easy. This is all I come up with for the moment. I wish all fellow photographers and illustrators out there a fortunate 2017! The same for all the programmers and the rest in the Affinity / Serif team. You really have made some great software! Love from Henry On the WestCoast of Sweden
  8. Currently, The Edit / Fill command fills up the entire layer. It would be very handy to have the option to protect the alpha in order to fill in only the content of the layer. There's a discussion here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/30465-fill-protecting-alpha/
