How do I hide the selection brackets/handles around a text object whilst still having it selected so I can visually preview it without the HUD clutter? The equivalent in Adobe Photoshop is [command + h], which stands for "hide", I suppose. This works across all tools and all manner of selections. It generally has three states: 1. Hide guides 2. Hide selection brackets/handles and/or Masks 3. Re-Reveal all guides, brackets and/or masks Is there an equivalent in Affinity Designer?

I'm a Fireworks crossover, finally had to give up on Fireworks (well, more like give up on Adobe) even though I love it. One shortcut that was worth its weight in gold was the ability to hide individual layers with a quick shortcut (Command+L in Fireworks). Would it be possible to add this option in the Layers menu dropdown? Then we could create our own shortcut for it. It would make it a LOT easier than selecting the layer, finding the selected layer in the Layers panel, then clicking the checkbox to hide it. Especially if you have, say, 200 layers in the list. As it is, you have to select it, then scroll up and down your layers list to find the highlighted layer, then click the checkbox. That gets tedious. :mellow: So something like: Layer > Hide Thanks for your consideration!

Please forgive me if this has been asked, I have searched and cannot find a solution. Just a few questions about things that were brought up before in other threads but I couldn't find a definite answer. My number one question pertains to the scrubby zoom. Is there a preference setting that we can unclick to turn it off so that we always get the old style of zooming without having to use an extra modifier key? I know that this has been discussed before but I can't seem to find any place that has any settings to turn off the scrubby zoom. I know that some people like it but I can't stand it. I always download and play around with the betas but when I'm working, I still use the Mac App store version 1.2.1 (yes, it is old) just because I can't stand the scrubby zoom. The betas have a lot of extra goodies compared to the old Mac App store version but I still prefer the old version simply because the old zoom behaviour is so much better and more efficient (at least for me and for many others too I would imagine). I have tried to using the scrubby zoom, hoping that it would grow on me but it hasn't. It is nice that we can use a modifier key to get the old behaviour back but it would be even better if there was a preference setting to decide which one we would like to use. Maybe there is a setting in the latest beta but I can't seem to find it. Are there any plans to add such a preference setting? My second question is about a Fill shortcut key. I love that we are able to customize shortcuts, that is the easiest way to make everyone happy. The only problem right now is, there are some things which we can't assign a shortcut to because they aren't even a menu option. I know that MattP talked about adding a fill shortcut before but I haven't seen it and I can't find it. I was surprised to see that there are settings for a shortcut for Set Fill to 50% Gray but not one for just Fill? The thing that I do more than anything else in a vector app is fill shapes with a color so this would be a major efficiency booster. It saves so much mousing. Currently I use the "paste style" but it would be better to just have a shortcut for fill. There isn't even a menu item for Fill in Designer but there is in Photo, why is this? Of course I use the fill command in Photo (and in Photoshop too) but I use fill in Designer even more. Speaking of missing menu items, I'm sure that you guys are tired of hearing me beg for a "Hide/Show All" command but would it be possible to add it as an option in the shortcuts and then let the user decide if they want to use it or not? Being able to Hide/Show All items without having to hunt through a layer stack is so incredibly powerful and useful. It would save me so much time not having to weed through the layer stack all the time trying to find objects that were hidden. For me (and many others like me who have come to Designer from Illustrator) the ability to Hide/Show All with a keystroke is a godsend. Hello, As of the latest beta (Oct 9th) I've noticed there is still a glaring usability issue when it comes to visual layer cues, particularly if a user has not visited a file in a lengthy period of time one would have to expand most grouped layers to remember what was locked or have hidden visibility. Usually when moving or doing some other edit with grouped objects or other selections, I thought this request could help… How about some sort of faint or ghosted icon that appears to indicate that sublayers exist with hidden visibility or locks that are active when the layer is collapsed? Thank you!

Is it possible to hide the Marquee? Deselect with cmd+d is possible but i cant find the hide function. Thanks a lot. Marco

This is my first post and I would like to say to the Affinity team, way to go on creating a truly promising vector application. I downloaded the trial and I'm still playing around with it to get a feel for it. I have been reading these forums since October. I have been very excited about the possibility of a vector program that can replace Illustrator (without the stupid subscription). I have been enjoying the trial version for the last 3 days. Thanks for making a trial version available. I do have a few requests. I know that you can hide and show items but in Designer but having to go to the Layers menu and then weed through tons of different shapes just to hide and show things takes too long. In Illustrator there is a simple "hide" command and it can be assessed in the menu or by shortcut (command 3), as well as "show all". These two shortcuts alone are a huge time saver. As well in Illustrator you can add the apply the last color or gradient used with a shortcut (the comma key for color and the period key for gradients). I know that Designer has some shortcuts but for me, more is better. They help to save time and time is money. One of the only things I dislike about the program is color selection. Selecting a color and applying a color should be easy but for me it seems very confusing and not at all intuitive in Designer. I don't know if it is only me that thinks this or not but comparing it to Illustrators super easy to use and easy to understand way of applying color and selecting swatches, Designer has some way to go. I'm not saying that the Illustrator way is the best but it is easy to use and very intuitive. Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to seeing how Designer develops. I'm also excited about your forth coming photo and layout app as well.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before - I tried a search but did not find anything about it. It would be a great time saver if the show/hide checkbox in the layers panel hid everything on that layer except the item whose checkbox was clicked when the option key was held down, & conversely that option-clicking on it again unhid the previously shown objects.

Hi, I'm getting used to it (switching from photoshop) but there is one thing that I think should be little bit twicked. All this export persona and slices works awesome. But when You want to export some slice, but not only one layer, but some area, You need to switch to "pixel persona" a switch on/off layers that You don't want/do want. Maybe this hiding layes feature should be also in layer tree at "export persona"? It will be much faster when You want to export some croped area. Or I'm just doing something wrong? @edit And maybe one more thing related to "export persona". When You unselect slice, it should disappear from viewport. When You have a lot of slices, there is huge viusal mess.
