Coming from Illustrator, I am confused as to how to fine tune my gradients in Affinity Designer. In AD, it seems like I must use the Gradient Tool to create and edit my gradients. Is it true there is no precision editor in AD? In Illustrator, you select your gradient, then click Gradient in the toolbar at right, and you then have command of just about everything imaginable. But in AD, I must select my gradient, then switch to the Gradient tool, and then there is a line that appears over the gradient object, which allows me to change colors, add points, move a slider, etc. But editing on the object itself isn't always preferred. And often when I slide that slider, it snaps to points, even though I have snap disabled, preventing me from making precision edits. I figured out I can kill that snap by holding down the option key, but it's still not super precise to do it like that. In Illustrator, I can type in an exact percentage figure. No way to do that in AD from what I can see. Or is it just me? Am I missing something? It would seem only logical and intuitive that if I click on a gradient and then double-click on the round color circle in the "Color" tab at right that it should open up a precision gradient editor for me.

Allow for the document story to be uploaded to the cloud to be remotely edited in a collaborative environment. I'd like to see something akin to InDesign-InCopy workflow but much easier/better — without installing additional software and doing it entirely via a web interface. Every now and then a project happens where a copy needs to be edited by either a client or a bigger group of authors/editors/proofreaders. We all know how it looks on average — lots of phone calls or emails with tons of text changes, unbearable Word docs for you to copy/paste the shit throughout the day. Bigger projects can deploy InCopy but it means purchasing additional software and then learning it and your average client won't like this very much (I've been there!). But still it's pretty awesome to be able to just click 'update' after an editor sends you changes via InCopy and watch text and tables magically update. You just focus on the design, yay! I think, with today's technologies, it could be possible to ditch additional software, sync document story to the cloud and build a web interface where clients and editorial team would work on the copy. Having a web interface would take away all the problems associated with software installation (documents could be accessed anywhere, from any device) and be more client-friendly. Does that sound remotely (pun intended) possible? B)

I can open AI files in Affinity Design, but I cannot seem to edit them except gross resizing of the entire image or individual parts. How do I get at the control points for editing?

I think it would be nice to have integration with Apple Photos. I believe that Apple offers an option for plugins , so perhaps by clicking a plugin icon we can open the image in Affinity. So, it would be nice to use Apple Photos for importing and navigation and do editing in Affinity. Right now I have to export the files ( not a big deal ) and then work on them. Initially, I disliked Apple Photos because it seemed to me rudimentary , however recently I have been testing it against other Raw editors including Lightroom ( horrible rendition of color at least for NEF ) and Capture One ( surprisingly Apple Photos handles color almost as good as Capture One, capture One has excellent Shadow and Highlight recover and Clarity filters , other than that I am happy with Apple Photos )

Hi, I'm using AP Trial v1.3.5 to edit 16 bit PSD and TIFF image files. As I make an edit to the image (e.g. move an adjustment Curve, or rotate the image in the Crop tool), the live changes are made in a 'tiled' way; you can see the image being updated block by block over around a quarter of a second or so. Is this a consequence of AP's rendering process? Or is it related to the host machine's processing power? Cosmetically I would prefer a smoother rendering of edits. As an example, PS CS6 updates the image as a whole as I make adjustments, albeit with a small delay of a quarter-second or so. Not a huge issue really, but if there was a way to see smoother updates it would be lovely. I'm using AP Trial v1.3.5 on a late 2012 Mac Mini with 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, OS X 10.10.5 and Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU. Many thanks, Matt

If I draw a squiggle in Vector Persona switch to Pixel Persona select the Erase Brush Tool I can erase a portion (or all) of the squiggle I just drew. If I then switch back to Vector Persona draw a second squiggle in Vector Persona switch to Pixel Persona select the Erase Brush Tool I can only erase the second squiggle--the first one is no longer editable. If I draw two squiggles in Vector Persona switch to Pixel Persona select the Erase Brush Tool Again, I can only erase the second squiggle--the first one is no longer editable. That doesn't seem to be correct behavior, as I'd only have one shot at erasing something I drew earlier. What am I doing wrong? Might I have a preference in the Assistant Manager (something the Help files referred to in the EB Tool section) incorrectly set?

Can anybody tell me any tricks or tips on how to make concentric circles of a shape? (actually its a curve not a shape). Basically I want expanding rings but I don't want to change the size of the shape. I tried using power duplicate but I'm finding it impossible to get the exact rotation degree needed to match up. Thanks in advance!

Hi. Be patient please. I am very new to this. My goal for purchasing this app is that I would like to do some simple things such as create a poster to print for my daughter using the lyrics from her wedding song. Also I would like to make some facebook banners and possibly greeting cards.. Will I be able to edit jpgs or files I download from sites such as creative market? I seriously thought I had been able to somehow edit one the other night but now I am completely at a loss as to what I may have done. I also have some background files that I have purchased and would like to remove the existing typing to replace it with mine. Is this the right software for me? Or do I need something else?

I am a frequent photoshop user, and I'm already loving Affinity. Deffinately considering changing to this software. I look forward to seeing high editing tools for massive creation in Affinity. What I would love to see the most is a RAW plugin that allows you to tone and edit single or multiple raw files. In photoshop it was Camera Raw and I could have use that camera raw feature to fully edit hundreds of raw files at a time. Something similar to this will be a great addition to Affinity and definitely a game changer! Looking forward to seeing new and exciting stuff in Affinity!
