  1. I used AI to create a vector image, but when i import it into affinity I see hairline white gaps between each shape, which are also apparent when then saving it as a png or jpg. The gaps don't seem to be there in AI, so is it an export issue with AI or something with affinity thats doing it? Tried exporting from AI as both svg and pdf. Cheers!
  2. The fastest way for me to switch design apps for a newsletter to Publisher would seem to be to import a .pdf as a template. Unfortunately, each line of text (delineated by a CR) is its own boxed element. Is there any way to join separate, boxed line together so that they become hole paragraphs? (I'll also comment that I'm surprised to still see this Forum jumbling discussions of all three of their apps together, instead of creating a sub-forum for each. Tags is a poor work-around.) mirabeau
  3. I have a .psd created in photoshop elements. It opens ok in Affinity photo. I am having trouble getting the exported pdf to show text as a vector (with zero pixelation when zoomed in). Can you please tell me what settings I should use during export to make sure text has zero pixelation when zoomed in? When I export the same .psd using photoshop elements, the resulting .pdf renders the text as a vector so I know its not a problem with my design setup. Also my print company recommends pdf/x-4 as the output profile but that preset in affinity photo produces a text with pixelated edges. The only change I made to the psd file in affinity photo was a conversion to cmyk color profile. I would like to start using affinity photo by default but need to be able to confidently render psd files to pdf with the text output as vector with no pixelation. Also I notice when I change the setting to "no rasterization" when outputting to pdf from .psd, it ignores any clipping masks applied so the image is not as intended. Can you please advise settings to try in this situation. Thanks so much.
  4. I'm trying to get a file I've been working on in Affinity over to a friend using Illustrator for final (minor) edits. At minimum, he at least needs to be able to open it on Illustrator with no loss of resolution. I have tried exporting it as every file extension available with Affinity and they all lose resolution or effects upon export. Does anyone know how best to tackle this problem? DZONE Jersey.afdesign
  5. Hi, new user here. Would greatly appreciate an assist. Affinity Photo I'm having some difficulty getting layers to show in exported pdfs. I've searched around. Is it just me? Exporting 3.5x2" 400dpi image with 10 layers into a pdf. Nothing is shown in the layers panel of several pdf viewers and editors. Did I overlook something simple?
  6. Hi Affinity folks. First thanks for a two good tools, they keep getting better and better. We receive a lot of artwork from our clients as .pdf's, and very often there are used non standard fonts. We need the artwork for TVC's so all we really need to do to it is to export the .pdf's ( sometimes layers by layer ) as .png or .exr so we can use it in the TVC's. Usually we have such short deadlines so there is no time for trying to get the correct fonts, and trying to make the client export to something we can use directly is even more impossible. We are using PS for that at the moment because when PS opens a .pdf with missing fonts, the document can still look correct, but the font layer will be "rasterized" and non editable. I don't know how PS does that but would it be possible to get the same functionality added in Affinity Photo and Designer? Cheers /johs
  7. Hi, I'm new to Affinity Designer - I've downloaded the free trial and am having success with learning the program. My problem is when I try to export my file to .pdf or .tiff I lose the document settings. I customized my document to be 58" x 36" at 300 dpi. When I export it changes to 96 dpi and 13" x 8" size. It was suggested to me I download Adobe Illustrator to try to convert the file at the correct, original settings. I've tried Illustrator and gave up after a few days' trial as it was not nearly as intuitive for a beginner as AFD, however it is essential for my work to find an app that I can export correctly to my printer. Would you kindly walk me through the steps. thank you for the help!
  8. I've had to re-work some vector illustrations and the file format was .ai - as expected AffinityDesigner loaded it perfectly and I made the changes quickly. I now however need to deliver the updated source file. I realise I can't export to .ai - so what's the best alternative? I know I can export to PSD, PDF, SVG and EPS but I'm not really sure which one to use. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance. p.s - Absolutely LOVE AffinityDesigner. Still using the trial version but will be purchasing soon. I hope this community is as useful as the app itself.
