  1. I also addressed this topic with regard to real vector brushes and even added some videos of how I create them in Illustrator and what variants there are, because real vector brushes are very important to me too. Especially because of their flexibility in terms of scaling without loss of quality. In addition, you could then perhaps convert these contours into objects using the Convert command. You would then no longer have any problems with the distortion when drawing tight curves, for example if you wanted to use a star or another object as a brush. These are currently being distorted because they are actually pictures, which I think is bad. Maybe it would also be great if you could import and use brushes from Illustrator in Designer, as you can in Photo with the brushes from Photoshop.
  2. Here is an example, which refers to the point 3 concerning text. Here, unfortunately, I had to convert the text to paths so that I could create such an effect with contours. But I would like to be able to apply such a creative effect to editable texts, so that I can correct or change them later if necessary. This is possible in AI and would be an additional possibility for design and use in Designer.
  3. I am also very happy with the concept of the Affinity Programs. And I can also understand that with a smaller team of programming you can't expect to get a whole bunch of new functions with every update. Especially at the moment, when several viruses are turning everything upside down. I also report one or the other problem and make suggestions as to what could be improved or functions that can make work easier and save time and which I would like to have in the programs. But I don't need a clone of the other programs, because I find that they have far too many functions, some of them only save one additional work step and thus make the programs bigger, slower and more instable. And who can say that he / she uses all the functions that these programs have all the time? I think that basic functions should be available, that they are actually used very often, which is for the most part the case in Affinity programs, and that they also work perfectly. Of course, some functions are still missing, which I also count among the basic functions. Nevertheless, with the current status and functions of the programs, really creative and professional designs can be created.
  4. It had only been a suggestion. I just see constantly in the forum that one finds more and more frustrated users, which some topics, these partly already exist for some years, again and again to address, but until Today still no solution was found and thus users think that one does not take care of this matter or they only put off. Sure, I don't really know anything about programming, and so I don't want to cause trouble, but it is very depressing to read what some people write here in the forum and how they feel, because many things have not yet been fixed, changed or added.
  5. I think that it would be helpful if the developers would start a survey for each program, in which they list a list of functions, tools and problems that are mentioned here in the forum, on which they are perhaps already working or should be added in the near future. I would limit the poll to about a month. Then each user would have the opportunity to choose ten of them for each program and tell them which he / she would like to see until about the next updates of the programs. This would give the developers an overview of which priority which function, tool or bug fix is first with the users and so they could focus on these things. And as soon as these lists are worked off, one could start a new inquiry. This way the developers as well as the users of the programs would know what to expect next and the developers would not be accused of not working on the problems or wishes of the users.
  6. Well, I agree that there are still some tools and features that one would like to see in AD. You can see it in the forum in heaps. But there are also features that already exist in AD, but do not yet work properly or even should be improved. Nevertheless, I would not be averse if there would be a vector eraser and a cutting tool. In addition, there should also be a way that you can choose whether objects that you crop or erase automatically remain closed or open. Also creating real vector brushes would be very useful to be able to convert them back to objects later, as I know it from AI and Corel. In addition, they can be scaled lossless and unrestricted, which is not the case with the current vector brushes.
  7. Hello Affinity Team, just tried the Divide function again to see when the problems with the objects not being divided correctly anymore starts. Found that with only two overlapping objects the problem does not occur, but only when you use more than two objects. at that moment the problems start and miscalculations occur with the division. In addition, every now and then another problem occurs, that when I work completely with my graphic tablets and execute the function, that instead of a division suddenly a duplicate is created from the top object and this gets the color of the object below. If I execute the command again, but this time with the mouse, a duplicate is created again. Only when I delete all objects and create them again with the mouse, the objects are split again. I'll attach an additional video to show the problem with the duplicate. In the first attempt I worked with the mouse and in the second attempt I worked with the graphics tablet. 8. Hello all, I would like to have the possibility to edit the created styles afterwards, so that I can change and deactivate the settings stored in them individually. In addition, I would also like to be able to create styles where I can save only the outline, the surface, the individual effects, and then transfer only this style to another object without removing all other properties. If this is not possible, I would have this possibility in an additional tool, like the eyedropper. I know this possibility from the Adobe products, where I can use the eyedropper to transfer the properties to other selected objects. By an additional submenu I can decide which properties I want to transfer to the other object. I attach a picture of the properties that can be selected and transferred with the eyedropper in AI. This kind of selection for creating styles or as additional functions in the eyedropper would be helpful.
  9. Hello all, I would like to make a few improvements and changes to the Appearance window, which are very helpful in Designer and Publisher and provide more options. 1. i would like to have the possibility to apply the effects, which are available as layer effects, also for contours and surfaces. I would also like to be able to set the Overprint function separately for contours and areas, so that I have better control when I want to create graphics and layouts for the print area. This is a very important function to achieve certain results and effects. Currently, overprinting is only possible through a speziel applied color. This is not really helpful if you want to use one and the same color and in some cases you want to overprint areas and contours and in others not. 3) I miss the possibility to apply the functions to text layers. In the Adobe programs it is possible to do this without having to convert the text first. I attach a few pictures of how I imagine the window looking. I and other users would be happy if there could be these possibilities. Especially users who have previously worked with the programs from Adobe and other manufacturers.
  10. Hello all, I would like to make a few improvements and changes to the Swatches window when creating and editing colors. I noticed a long time ago that to create spot colors and global colors, you can only access these settings when you create them. I think it would make more sense to have the settings for Global Color, Spot Color and Overprint not only when creating a color, but to find these settings under Edit Color, in order to be able to subsequently set the already existing colors with these properties. This is how I know it from Adobe Illustrator and other graphics programs and I find it much better. I would remove the Overprint function here and move it to the Appearance window and make it selectable for contour as well as area. This is also possible in Adobe Illustrator. Instead, I would then add the property Do Not Print, so that you can also create colors that you can apply to objects and contours, use them only as a display aid, as it is with the guides. It would be really great if you could make this change. I'm attaching a picture of how I envision it.
  11. Unfortunately this is not possible. Have addressed this topic before as this is a function that is also very important to me. I, too, have long wanted the separation preview in all three programs, because I also need this function for checking. The only way you can currently have is to open the file in Affinity Photo and see the preview of the individual color channels there. Unfortunately I was not able to see real colors like this.
  12. Hello all, I created this illustration entirely in Designer. Have a nice 4th Advent.
  13. Hi, In Designer, you can add several contours and surfaces via the Appearance panel. I also know this function from Adobe Illustrator, but I have to say that Illustrator offers many more options in terms of settings than Designer. Above all, I find it really bad that you can only add additional contours to objects and not to editable text, as is the case in Illustrator. When I look at the video from Corel, the function is actually similar to Illustrator, except that you use a tool there. And I agree, if such a tool is already added in Designer, it should be possible to use it in a similar way as in Corel. Since I work with Illustrator for a living, I would be more pleased if you could expand the functionality of the Illustration panel by adding effects and adjustments. And of course it should also be possible to apply these functions to editable texts.
  14. Hello Sean P, thank you for your reply. Yes, I've already tried them all. When I use the pencil tool, it works. Although I have to say that the effect is very small and not as good as with a graphics tablet and the print function. But when I use the vector brush, it does not work. I have just created two videos where I show everything exactly as I set it. Desktop_2020_12.08_-_11_47_02_01.mp4 Desktop_2020_12.08_-_11_53_53_03.mp4
  15. Hello Affinity Team, i just tried out the different settings of the control for the vector brushes. I noticed that the setting tempo and tempo reverse somehow doesn't work. According to the information in the help, you should be able to control the size variation and opacity when using a mouse. No matter which setting and speed I use with my mouse, nothing changes. When using this setting, the brush size and opacity remains at the average value of the settings calculated by the program. Either I am doing something wrong or the settings Tempo and Tempo reverse do not work.
  16. Thank you very much. As it seems, a long time ago I had probably changed something in the assistant. Now I've changed it and now it works.
  17. Hello Affinity Team, i would very much like to have a way to create patterns from vectors, like in Adobe Illustrator, and be able to save them like a kind of fill colour. In addition you can change the size, distances to the individual objects, as well as an offset and rotation or mirroring, which allows you to move the objects manually by input or to make an adjustment by overlays. The currently very hidden function of pattern fills in AD, is limited by the functionality and the pattern templates must first be saved externally as png files and therefore not visible in AD. It would be nice if a similar possibility as in AI could be added in Designer. Unfortunately, I can't include a sample video of how it works in Illustrator, because I have the current AI anymore and also the trial version from the usage time is already used up and I can't use it now.
  18. Hello Affinity Team, I noticed that I work in AD in the pixel persona with brush and eraser, I can't set different settings of the two tools as I can set it in AP. Could you please change this in Designer, so that I can set different settings here as well. Or is there already an option somewhere to change this? That would be really helpful.
  19. Hello Affinity Team, I would like to be able to move the frame in AP while creating a selection with the selection frames (rectangle, ellipse, columns and rows) by additionally holding down the space bar without having to release the mouse button and use the move tool. So you have the possibility to move the frame to the right position while drawing the selection before you can resize the selection. This function is available in Adobe Photoshop and I would be very happy if this function was also available in Affinity Photo. I'll upload a short video to show the function that is available in Photoshop. Move_selection_frame.mp4
  20. Hello Dominik, thank you for your answer. Yes, I do that all the time, but I would also be very happy if you could add an extended function similar to the one in AI in AD. I'm already very familiar with Affinity's products, but I keep coming across situations where I miss some features that I know from other graphics programs. That is why I am asking this question here. I also know the possibility to draw mirrored with the use of symbols. But that is not the aim, I just want to mirror an object and at the same time to the place I want to draw without having to move the object afterwards.
  21. Hello Affinity Team, would it be possible to add an additional setting for mirroring? I would like to define the position of the mirror axis before mirroring objects. At the moment the mirroring is always centered on the selected object. I would like to be able to use the alignment points, which can also be used for transformations, as mirror axis. So you don't have to move the mirrored object afterwards, but it would be moved automatically when mirroring. This kind of mirroring is possible in Illustrator, where there is a tool for mirroring, with which one first selects the object, then defines the position of the mirror axis and by holding down the ALT key (windows) and moving one gets a mirrored copy of the object. It would be nice if such a function was also available in AD. I will upload an additional video with the function in Illustrator. Mirror_in_Illustrator.mp4
