That said, a lot of companies do offer upgrade prices. Even Adobe offers upgrade prices for Photoshop Elements. Also, I'm not upset. I couldn't be more relaxed. That doesn't stop me though from making up my mind. 20 to 30 € upgrade would have been a no-brainer for a software I don't use every day. 50 € makes me think about it several days. 85 €, no way.

Wrong. They did sales. They didn't drop the prices. The prices actually always went up. Originally, the Affinity apps cost 49,99 €, then 54,99 €, then 64,99 €, and now 84,99 €. Again, though, we're straying from the topic here. The question was: "Why is there no rreward for existing customers?".

Currency conversion fees are surely not 17 € for the full price of these apps. I also pay internationally with Paypal sometimes, and, I've never seen such fees.

Yes. That wasn't the question though. The question was why there's no reward for existing users. Serif basically treats every existing user like a new user. I also hoped for a better upgrade price, which extends over the initial release sale period. In a few weeks time, the Affinity apps will cost 84,99 €, even for owners of the v1 apps. 20 € for an upgrade would have been cool. Let's be honest, there are not that many new features in v2.

That's also apples and oranges. Especially as the prices for energy would have been avoidable, with a different policy. Anyway, I'll happily admit that you have a point saying that they're still reasonable prices compared to other software. Don't want to talk about "competition", because, as you say, both the Adobe and the Corel apps are much longer in development. Nonetheless, for someone like me who isn't a power user, and specifically chose the Affinity apps for their low cost, 60% more costs is a bit hard to digest. By the way, don't get me wrong, I respect you guys for having a positive attitude towards these apps. Nothing worse than people who try to ruin everything. But, I definitely think there is a reason to criticize when the prices increase a lot in a short period of time. If I recall correctly, the apps were still prices 54,99 € a year or 1 1/2 years ago or so. It might not hurt you yet, but, who knows what these apps will cost in a year or two?

It says "VAT included". I have no idea how much VAT is in the UK, but, can't be that much? Interestingly, the discounted price (35,99 pounds) is not that far off the € pricing. 9 € difference, while it's 17 € for the full price.

Why do you compare apples to oranges? You compare a discounted price to a non discounted price. Already told you that I bought APhoto and ADesigner for 27 € each, which would be much less for all 3 apps.

If you don't see the price increase of a software originally sold for 49,99 € to 84,99 € as it is sold now, then you're blindfold. But, if you want to stick to discounts, how about this: I bought APhoto and ADesigner for 27 € each. The discounted prices for the v2 apps are 48,99 € each. Yes, that's more expensive. We'll see what the Affinity apps' price is when they reached v24 or whatever Photoshop is now. Anyway, I never thought that comparison is really fair. Not to Affinity, nor to the Adobe apps. It's kind of a desperate argument, when people try to find reasons for the one or the other.

No. I'll continue to use Photoshop Elements and Affinity Photo v1. I wouldn't know why to "leave it and pay attention to another", just because I don't like the new version's pricing. Life isn't black/white. I'm sure you'll agree that I'm as entitled to an opinion on the price as the people who insta buy it though.

I don't see everyone else raising the prices 60% of what the stuff originally cost. Apart from "Everything is more expensive" not really being a good argument, especially when you also have to make a living and justify the costs of the things you buy. Why not raise the prices another 100%? Everything is getting more expensive, so? Yeah, bad argument really.

@HelmarIf you compare the price to the industry standard, yes. The question is, should you compare it to the industry standard. I know they do a lot of marketing in that regard. But, IMO, the Adobe apps are still ahead in pretty much everything.

For what it's worth, I expected a paid upgrade (or, rather, a new paid version) at some point, and, I think it was also communicated. What I don't like is that they raise and raise the prices though. I got the Affinity apps for their low costs, which was a big argument. It's getting smaller and smaller.

The Universal license is new though, isn't it? And, with the discount, it's 199 € as well, which is about 40 € more than the three v1 apps would have cost a few years back. Not to mention that not everyone needs all the apps. I have no use at all for Publisher, for example. And almost no use for Designer. I bought both APhoto and ADesigner on a sale, by the way, 27 € each, IIRC. That's 54 € in total for those 2 apps. Buying v2 of both apps would cost me 98 €. That's almost double the price. Just saying. Admittedly, 27 € for each was a steal, but, you get used to it when a software is priced like that, and find it hard to justify such an increase in price, when you're merely a hobbyist who doesn't use the software on a daily base.

Well... maybe we shouldn't see that as the benchmark. The Affinity apps cost 54.99 € originally (with occasional discount prices of 24.99 €), then they bumped the price in Covid times to 64.99 €, and now they cost 84.99 €. Pretty steep... my math says that's a raise of ~57 %. I surely won't upgrade anytime soon... as a mere hobbyist, I also have to keep my money together. Edit: Looks like the original price at release was even lower... 49.99 €.

Just wondering, but... is it normal that "only" 2 of the Nik collection plugins appear to be working in APhoto?

So.. i didn't find them in the main toolbar, and i didn't find them in the menus... I guess i should dig a hole somewhere, and bury myself in it.

I'm ashamed now that i never noticed those... i expected auto-corrections to be in one of the menus, like they are in PS Elements. Thanks a lot for the tip! Back to school for me now, and to see what i also missed in the software.

Right, but, why not just implement those as factory defaults, instead of making the user do the job? My point was about comfort, as that's what makes a software... well... more comfortable. Apart from that, i really don't see where APhoto should have some auto corrections like PS Elements has. Maybe i just don't know where to look.

Strange... i have no idea why that is happening. Works fine here. That said, Serif should definitely improve the batch processing. For example, i sorely miss a option to save the processed files with a file name extension like "IMG_3367_processed". That way, you could save into the same folder, without overwriting the existing files. I can also imagine that some generic auto corrections like sharpening, auto colour, or auto contrast could be added. Even Photoshop Elements has that.

This the first time i heard someone complain about a application not crashing.
