  1. In Photoshop, setting the brush to overlay and painting on a mask brightens the bright parts and darkens the dark parts. This helps getting rid of fringes and other noise at the edge of the masked areas. In Affinity Photo, setting the brush to overlay has no particular effect.
  2. Here's a clear example by the way. I tried the green grass to see if there's a difference but I'm getting the same problem. I could make a mask first and then go to refine, but I still can't use matte edges (and can't use the matte brush - like I want to). Channel Mask A (kopia).afphoto
  3. Is there a reason we can't use a brush in overlay blend mode to clean up edges of masks, like we can in Photoshop?
  4. I suspect you're right.
  5. For me, nothing gets selected, regardless of whether I select the white or the red. For example, if I go to refine and use the against black view, I get a completely black screen.
  6. I have a file with red ink splash on a white background. I've selected the red splash using "select sampled color". I get a good selection and can create a mask if I want to, but I want to refine the selection more first. I click "refine", a feature I've used a lot before, but it does absolutely nothing. It loads for a while but I don't get an overlay (none of the other display options work either). I can use the matte brush all I want but it doesn't do anything either. The feature seems completely broken. Any ideas? Affinity Photo 1.7.1 on macOs 10.14.5 Edit 1: It seems to work if I select the ink splash with the quick select brush instead. A problem with the selection from sampled color maybe? Definitely seems like a bug to me though.
  7. Oh my god, I completely forgot about editing detached! That will definitely work! Thanks for the help!
  8. It might be a Mac thing for all I know. I attached a document where I reproduced the issue. It's on page 12. The steps I took to reproduce were: 1. Create a table 2. put the table in a text frame column, already filled with Lorem Ipsum - resize the table to fit the column 3. set table text wrap to "jump" 4. set table to "inline in text" 5. set table to "float with text" 6. deactivate "float with text". Now the table is locked inside the master group and it can't be edited, moved or deleted. I don't know whether or not all the steps above are necessary to reproduce the problem, but it's the steps I took to do it just now. Green at Heart - Annual Report v1 (table bug).afpub
  9. Publisher 1.7.1 on MacOS 10.14.5 I've created a table on a page and it's somehow found its way onto the Master A layer, even though it's not on the master page. This means the table is locked and I can't edit or even delete it. The problem appeared when I tried to put it inline with the text inside a column (did not work and f*cked up the text instead). Tables seem very buggy so far. Please advise. Edit: I've managed to get rid of the table by copying the text, reapplying the master and pasting the text back again. The problem now is that there's a space in the column where the table used to be and I can't get rid of it. It flashes magenta every now and then as if it's a text frame or something, but there's nothing in the layers panel. What's going on here?? Edit 2: Okay, it seems to happen every time. Create a table, place it in a text column. Deselect it. Now it's locked inside the Master group and can't be edited/moved/deleted. This is definitely a bug, and it's just ruined my 30 page document...

Affinity Photo for MacOS - 1.7.0

Will this maybe free up some of your time so you can make a DAM?
  11. You're right, that's it! When I first changed the setting, I didn't restart or reopen the image. So it was still set to Serif. I'll probably keep using yours in that case, because I like being able to toggle individual corrections on/off to see the difference. Thanks for the help!
  12. I switched raw engine to Apple and used the lens correction profile for my supported camera and lens. It worked perfectly. Now I can't get it to work again. Not even with the same raw file as before. I now have to manually apply all the corrections. Does anyone know why this might be?
