I've owned Affinity Designer since the beginning. And the Node Tool is my favorite tool.
But now, I can't add a node point to a selected curve.
I've attached a quick vid on my problem. As you can see, I can use the Node Tool to move and make a curve... but I can't add new point.
Any ideas for a fix?

@Markus Allen Can you post a screenshot showing the Node Tool hovering over a path, like you’re trying to add a node? Make sure the screenshot shows the entire Affinity app window and that the Layers panel is visible.
Here's the video.
I can use the Node Tool to move the curve or line... but as soon as I try to click the line to add a point, I get nothing.
What's strange is I restarted my iPad (a brand new one, too), the add-a-point started to work. But then seconds later, nothing... and nothing no matter what document I try.
It's so strange.

See:
- Edit vector shapes and Curves
- Node Tool
- ... etc.
I appreciate the super fast response.
I've read all the forums posts about this.
Including this:
- With the curve selected, click at the point where you want the node to be added.
But:
For some reason when I click any part of the line with my node tool with the curve selected, nothing happens.
I'm guessing I turned something off to cause this problem for me.
Any ideas?

I think I turned something off in the setting bar at the bottom of Designer (original) and cannot use the Node Tool to tap on an existing shape to create a new point.
I can use the Node Tool to click and create a curve... but not create a new point.
I've never had this problem before.
Any ideas for a fix?

Select the “A” text object — no need to convert to curves! — and choose ‘Geometry > Divide’ from the Edit (‘...’) menu. The triangle will be moved to its own layer on top of the “A” outline shape, and the hole in the lower shape will be filled in.
Awesome. Thanks again Alfred!

Awesome - convert text to curves...
However:
Let's say I have the letter "A" and I want the color the triangle - can you point me in the right direction to color it different than the stroke of the letter A itself? In other words, how do I only choose the triangle in the letter "A"?

Another method...
Ah. Edit mode. That is what I needed to know. Thank you so much for this!

This is a GREAT thread.
Question: How do I continue using the pen tool. Let's say I am drawing a lot of points and accidentally "clicked off"... is there a way to click the path and start drawing again?

Is the delay in the files showing up in the iCloud drive on your iPad or on another device, if your web server has a cloud storage module with an iPad app you can use it otherwise you could try a different cloud storage service such as Dropbox or OneDrive
The delay usually occurs on my ipad, not my laptop.

Whenever I try to export to iCloud, it can sometimes take hours... even days for it to show up.
Is there some way to force a refresh?
Or, is there a way to export to my web server instead of iCloud?

I HIGHLY recommend watching this video tutorial... the learning curve is a bit steep (because the new version of Affinity Designer is a bit different), but worth it. That tip about using the polygon tool along with the smart selection is AWESOME!

Can we do something like this in Affinity Photo:

I would love to see a future Affinity Designer that would remember the canvas size when exporting (a .png for example).
Sometimes, the export size is twice... sometimes 400% bigger than my canvas size. (It is weird - there is no pattern to this).
Right now, I have to back out of the export to see what my canvas size is... then hit the export option and manually input the width.
Even better:
Let me select an object, and when I export it as a .png (or similar format), Affinity would automatically size is right (instead of setting the export size to the entire canvas size).

I don't have an Ipad but from the looks of your screencast you are using a textframe and not a rectangle
Bingo. That is correct. Thanks for pointing this out to me. I choose the wrong tool for the job.
Update: Could this be the reason for the confusion?

Here is my screen recording - see how the color does not change?

any fix?Wow. I was almost afraid to post my bug here. I thought I was just being an idiot.

I have the latest update...
And when I select a rectangle and choose a fill or stroke color, nothing happens.
Anyone else see this?

@Markus Allen you should check out the Pen Tool Tutorial. I believe the answer you're looking for might be at about the 30 second mark.
If that doesn't answer your question, as Lee D suggested a screenshot would be useful.
Thank you for this.

Problem with adding a node point - can you help me?

I figured out the problem.
It's the new hover effect for the Apple Pencil.
I turned this off (which is annoying anyway) and boom - I can add a node point to an existing curve.
