  1. Oh, but then my question would, what will the future format be for desktop app icons? Because for some weird reason, it can't be a png or jpg.
  2. I like to use AD to design icons, which uses the .ico format. Is there a way to directly export my design to this format, or would I need an external program to convert a PNG into ICO? If it's the latter, any recommendations on tools?
  3. UPDATE I purchased AD yesterday, and just now remembered that my Lazy Nezumi trial still has some days left. Tried it, and it works! I did nothing special: 1. Launch AD 2. Open a canvas, any canvas 3. Launch LN 4. Choose Constraints - Isometric * 4. In LN click on File > Hook (it will say that after clicking OK, you need to put your cursor (hover only, NOT clicking) over the AD canvas and wait 3s --- eventhough the explanation said that when hooked successfully, you see a red border flashing, this will NOT happen 5. After 3s of waiting, click on the canvas and you will see LN's isometric lines 6. Done! * this is not required, but when you select this, the confirmation that the hook went well in step 5. is instantly visible. (in contrast, if you selected the lazy thing, you would only know if the hook worked after using the pencil tool and draw a line)
  4. Is Designer able to export to QML files? For those who don't know what QML is and how you can use it: QML files are used by IDE frameworks like Qt, which in turn is used to design and develop applications such as Spotify, Curse (voice comms for games), but also that nice interface you have on your tv. Designer can slice and export assets for something like a website, but the ability to export to QML means that Qt can immediately use it as a native file (opposed to loading in images to replace native buttons). Simply said, if you like to create a desktop app or plugin, you can use the QML with your awesome UI design natively.
  5. If I'm not mistaken, it comes out in grey because that's the value for red. So I believe you need to make it full black first, before creating a brush from it, then the value (for whatever color you pick) should be correct.
  6. So, what is your opinion on Designer so far? To keep it organized, name 5 pros and 5 cons like this: PROS - What I like about Designer over other vector tools, i.e. Illustrator 1. 2, 3. 4. 5. CONS - What I think Designer needs to have, what needs improvement, what I simply don't like 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Optional What do you use Designer for in max 10 words. PLEASE do NOT make this a debate/help/social thread, there are a gazillion others for that, this should be a clean collection of opinions only.
  7. Or did I confused it with AP again? If AD doesn't have it, it's on the roadmap? * I don't mean flipping, but turning on the tool that gives me a line, I can move the line to where I want it mirrored, then draw a vector line on one side, and it creates a line on the opposite side.
  8. Whether I'm in draw or pixel persona, working on (layer) as default instead of the need to create a new layer first. Additionally, an option within settings/preferences where users can choose between working on (layer) as default, or like currently, each shape is created on it's own (shape) or (pixel) layer until you create a (layer).
  9. AP, like PS, is primarily a photo manipulation software. But the latter seems to have become the primary tool for painters as well, for things like concept art. I'm really interested to see and know if AP has potential to step into this route as well, so if anyone is out there and on this forum using AP mainly for it's painting capabilities, I would love to read your experiences and see some art pieces.
  10. Oh bummer, I really thought it did so I went looking for it in ever corner ...
  11. Regarding #3 I might have read it in the wrong context, but isn't this something that could be turn on/off in setting, I think I read that somewhere else on the forum.
  12. Thanks Patrick, really appreciate it. Also for the two interviews on the team's motivation and what they like to achieve for artists.
  13. Yes, but a mask is a type of selection, not a regular selection, but as the name says, a shape that can cover or let through specific parts. Unless AD uses the term "mask" completely different.
  14. Is it possible to share info on when Affinity thinks to launch major updates (2.0, 3.0, etc) and the frequency? Really don't want to sound rude, but it would feel like a bummer when I buy the software on a certain day, only to find out that a week later a major update is launched. Maybe share on what kind of policy the Affinity team / Serif company has on this, like, do you prefer building up a loyal user base over a large sales base, and thus possibly thinking of telling on the forum the date/week a major update will come out, or do you prefer a large sales base, which means that customers might possibly need to buy versions back to back within a very short timeframe? Again, don't want to be rude, I just want to know the human side of the company, which I find important too :)
  15. Kinda surprised, isn't this 'refine edge' of the mask (or any selection really) something that is one of the core things used in photo editing? Hopefully a staffmember will chime in on this and explain to us how simply it is to have it, can't imagine that the option is missing AP.
  16. Ahhh this explains a lot why I didn't get the price difference, my checkout price is the listed price (which is probably the price set for the EU/Euro currency region). And as you discovered already, when a viewer visits the Affinity website outside the Euro currency region but within the EU region, they (might) apparently see the Euro price listed, and that is indeed considered as advertised price. Maybe add an asterisk with additional info?
  17. I tested this to see if it occurs as well in my checkout, and used an online money exchange to check the rates, this is what I got: 39.99 EURO = 363 NOK = 41 USD If your checkout says 439 NOK, 439 NOK = 48 EURO = 50 USD So it seems that your discounted price is indeed not calculated within the checkout, which is weird because it should do this automatically, unless the checkout doesn't receive "39.99" but "49.99" as input price instead. Hope it get's sorted out for you.
  18. Yeah I know exactly what the OP means as I use Illustrator. I just assumed that tool is something AD has already so I didn't try it during the beta. But I downloaded the AD for mac trial yesterday to try out all the things I like to be able to do, that I haven't got the time before during the beta. Hopefully I can spend those 10 days (btw, why 10, why not 30?) as much as possible on trying things that I can in Illustrator.
  19. Isn't this already possible, like changing the width of a stroke? Hmm, forgot to find and try it during the beta :X (that trial really need to come before Christmas xD )
  20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOscpVdw1I0 It's a new feature in Painter 2017, and I would love to see this in AP xD
  21. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOscpVdw1I0 It's a new feature in Painter 2017 called 'glazing', it basically means that you can control the blending seperately from general opacity of brush strokes/dabs. It looks really awesome, but you know, 400 bucks vs 50 bucks ;-)
