  1. 1) Background layer is what it's usually called. I wouldn't use it for inking. Even if it was well inked I'd select and fill it in another layer. 2) Fill layer works. Colorists don't use layers. They use color channels, to save hard drive space. Haven't got around to that in affinity though. 3) Ctrl+Paint has some excellent tutorials on the raw fundamentals of digital painting.
  2. I'm pretty deep into a project right now. Affinity photo is great for design work, but the brush engine isn't cutting it. So I just installed a trial for lazy nezimi but it's just not doing anything. If anybody has any experience with installing plug ins on affinity, please let me know.
