Liorla got a reaction from Dan C in Crop - custom presets missing
Just wanted to update that I managed to solve the issue and have gotten the preinstalled presets back by uninstalling and then reinstalling AP.  Hope this helps in case anyone else runs into this issue.

Scaled down version went into Tone mapping much quicker for me but the full sized version has just reached a quarter of the progress bar after 6 minutes. The QA guys have identified another issue where HDR merge is taking a very long time, so i'll add a link to this thread on that report, as it may be the same issue but affecting a different part of the program.

I can confirm that the file isn't crazy complex and that it takes minutes to switch over to Tonemapping. I canceled out at some point.
The app gets very slow all all over, it clearly can't handle the file.
I tested the shared file in the most recent Beta. The thread-title is an accurate description.

That's should not be a reason to make modern machines unresponsive. Here's a folder view with a few of my Photoshop files, none of them is slow or makes PS unresponsive. There's really no need to defend bad performance, it doesn't help anybody and surely not Serif.

    Hi Keith,

I assume that the seam in the 360-degree VR pano is where the left/right boundary of the equirectangular source image meets?

Since the Tonemapping persona applies potentially strong exposure, contrast, and brightness adjustments to the image, it would have to have a 360-degree toggle to make sure that the left/right edges of the image get the same adjustments. That would certainly be a useful feature addition, something to request in that forum.

The only way to avoid such seams with the current toolset, is to either do the tonemapping on the tiles before stitching, or as a workaround produce an equirectangular+ image, which has an additional image column (a duplicate of the left or right edge added to the other edge). That would produce an image that has a width of more than twice the heigth (i.e. more than 360 degrees x 180 degrees), so after tonemapping, you'd have to crop its width. The additional replicated column at the left or right can be a part of the stitching (just duplicate and rename one column of images and add them to the stitching operation) or a temporary copy/paste from the existing EXR equirectangular image before Tonemapping. The latter is probably faster since it avoids having to create control points in the stitcher (although PTGUI would have no problems with that since the images are then identical duplicates).

    Cheers,

    Hello,

Resurrecting an old post, because I was about to ask the same question. Whilst trying to stitch together this sort of panorama yesterday it failed rather miserably. You say here "…doesn't do this type of stitching yet" James – is it something planned for 1.6 maybe? Basically I'd like to decide whether to shell out for Autopano or just exercise some patience. Affinity Photo is so fantastic in most ways I'm loathed to pay for another piece of software if Photo will handle the functionality very soon :)

    Many thanks!

I just bought Affinity Photo and I think that this software looks pretty awesome!  It is way faster and more responsive than Photoshop on my Windows 10 PC.

However, I am a pro 360/panoramic photographer, and one of my biggest complaints about Photoshop (and Lightroom, and pretty much everything actually) is that it has no idea when a photo wraps around at the edges of an equirectangular image, and therefore when I apply "nearest neighbor" functions like vibrance, clarity, shadows, highlights, sharpness, etc., I get a seam that can be quite pronounced.

When I read Affinity Photo had native 360 functionality, that sounded like music to my ears. Within the Photo persona, I've had no problems with seams, which is a huge improvement over Photoshop. I tried using the Tonemapping persona, which did some amazing stuff with a really lousy Theta image that I never would have guessed, but then when I projected it to equi, the seam was as big and bold as ever...

I'd just like to ask if there is a way that I can avoid this in the Tonemapping persona, and if the Tonemapper can be made 360-friendly, because with 360 images, this is almost critical. You often have the uber bright sun in the same image with uber dark shadows, and tonemapping of this quality would be something I really would like to take advantage of.
