I believe these unlinked attributes is By Design - as this allows each Symbol instance to have it's own transform properties, as required.

If you want to resize / orientate multiple instances of your Symbol at once, you have to apply the transform to the specific layers within the Symbol, as such:

If your symbol contains multiple layers, you may want to Group these within the Symbol, then apply the Transform to the Group layer.

    I hope this helps!

Thank you! I see the logic, though I would prefer to link by default, then unlink option.

It looks like we've actually reproduced this. Those Start and End options are disabled if you have Large Text set on the iPad!

Larger text is set off on my iPAD. See my lastest post: "Doesn't make any difference if stroke is in front or behind. I have none set because the dashes to choose start or end do not work. On my machine it works fine on the official release."

According to your screenshot, you have None set. If you pick one from the list it might look odd/broken because you've got the Order set to Draw stroke behind. If you set it to Draw stroke in front it should look right.

I'm not really sure where you are going wrong. All I had to do with your file was hide the stars with one of the symbol groups you made by dragging the new symbol group to the ellipse. Make sure you drag to the layer name so the entire layer goes blue and that you aren't dragging it to the thumbnail.

I didn't want to exchange one group for another . . . I wanted to use 1 instance of a symbol to create a substitute group . . . as per the video

    Hey Paul Chiswick,

I'm not sure which bit you are referencing as the video is 11m14s long yet you state at 11m13s the video producer performs an action. Do you have the document to share up to the point you get stuck? We might be able to spot where something went wrong.

Update. I've just skipped through and it looks like you're referring to the 8 minute mark?

Yes, where the bunny replaces the flower, Here's another video to demonstrate what I mean.

And here's my file. Try replacing stars with another symbol . . .

  6. I'm following this on iPAD.

When he reaches 11:13 in, the video producer copies a new symbol over the existing (in video, bunny replaces flower). I asked him how, to make sure my understanding was correct. His answer: Just hide the flower group and paste the bunny inside the symbol. It acts like a group. You can add more content to it, edit and delete elements. All I had to do was place the bunny inside, scale it and position it to match the flower - and the pattern is altered."

However, I cannot do this on iPAD as all I get is a new layer. I don't have Beta on MacPro, so cannot compare.

Not sure if bug or not.

I'm struggling to reproduce these issues.

    1. It's almost instant for me - what is your machine spec? Is hardware acceleration enabled?

    2. Are you somehow pasting into an adjustment? Do the images have metadata? What format are they?

    3. Can you record a video, please?

Drag will let you decide the size of the placed image. So you can drag it to fit something. Click will place it at its original size.

    iPAD Air 2, 2019, iOS 15.7.2

Not sure sbout hardware acceleration on this machine

    Not pasting into an adjustment

    Video attached

Drag takes a long time, still needs tap to view

When placing an image from Photos in a document:

    1. Takes quite a time

    2. Sometimes comes in inverted or reversed.

    3. When placing a second image, the first remains in the sidebar after second is selected, and if placed brings in the first image again.

The same behaviour occurs in Designer 2 Beta.

Also, when placing an image it says to 'drag' it. Should it not be 'tap to place'?

Thanks. In that case, a Moderator will probably move this to the correct section of the forums, Other New Bugs and Issues in the Betas.

I opened it in Designer 2 Beta on iPad, clicked on that layer in the Layers studio, and checked the layer properties, which showed 46% opacity.

And sorry; it was the Double-Click to Change layer within Front Cover where I found that:

Also, I see that it has a layer blend mode of Darker Color, which might also do odd things.

But neither of those seems to explain the Double Click to Replace layer within the iPad layer, as that one is 100% and Normal blend mode.

Thanks, Walt. Re the strange behaviour with the middle image, I turned off the background layer, turned back on and bingo  , , , everything was as expected! Very strange behaviour . . .

Also, can you confirm what version/release of Designer 2 you used to create that file? When I tried to open it in 2.0.4 it said it had features from a newer version, but it opened fine in 2.1.0.1730 Beta.

Using 2.1.0.1730 Beta. Strange, my 'front' image shows 100 percent . . . how did you arrive at 46? Thanks
