  1. Hi everyone.. This would be very very high on my wishlist.. As an architect, as some of you allready know, we have to import printed pdf files to Affinity Photo , to be able to make our layouts as beautiful as needed for competitions.. Doing so the workflow is essential.. CAD Plans change all the time.. so embedding pdf files and linking ( as it hopefully will soon be able when the "ressource manager" also comes to affinity Photo), would be idal to start working on the affinity layout and making changes on the CAD Plan, and beeing able to reimport new Cad Prints (pdf´s) on the fly.. Problem is, we also need the vectorplans to get converted to rasterised images, to be able to efficently select areas of the plan. Doing this by selecting hundrets of vektors, lines or solids, and masking them would be impossible slow..(also you dont change those lines in Photo or Designer because its way faster in the CAD software) ... so selecting colors is the only practicable way.. but when you rasterise the pdf, the link to the embeded external file would get broken... So what could be a solution? So here´s my suggestion for the glory of architectural workflows with affinity Photo... give us a new Live filter Layer.. "convert to rasterised" , to be able to import pdf´s linked and embeded, but also to use them as if they where rasterised this would be the nondestructive Solution. to see such a workflow... here a very rough . Youtube film...
  2. Hi @Kay P very late, but here´s a simplified Workflow as we now use it for importing Acad Plans to Affinity Photo.. To understand this, you need to know, that Architects never would use Designer to change thousends of differing plan elements and lines.. this is by far by far easier inside of the CAD Programs.. So we search for ways to import CAD Plans to make them beautiful, which most CAD Programs are bad for.. but ! Want to be able to get a fluid workflow , when the architecture changes, which it does all the time.. So someone could start in a contest to build up a beautiful Plan in Affinity Photo, but still changes are possible and should be importet to Affinity very easy.. Best way to get this with 1.65 are embeded PDF files, which you can easily exchange.. and later on.. as Serif told, there should be as in Publisher the option to import changes automaticaly, as it is done in Publisher with the Ressourcemanager. Now the only problem is, that we need to select from the pdf´s using color selection , which doesent work !!! so i have to make copys of the pdf´s at last temporary.. to select areas or colors from. My suggestion to serif... !!! i would like a new "Live Filter Layer" "Convert to Raster Image".. Please.. this would ease the pain soooooo much.. Ok.. now also important for you architects out there.. Printing CAD Plans to PDF leads to horribly jagged and bad antialiased lines and fillings of solids, when you import them to affinity Photo and also to affinity Designer.. It took us some time to find a Printerdriver that works somehow... not perfekt but works.. and that is the " PDF X-Change 6" printerdriver.. Only this one worked. Most time you can use it, and if it still has some jagged lines, rasterising the imported pdf plans, let you get rid of the problems ( but before doing so, kopy the embeded pdf, because otherwise, the workflow, of easy reimporting changes gets broken). so heres a link to a fast youtube workflow film.. very oversimplified, but you get the idea...
  3. Hallo MEB Sorry, i didnt see your answer earlier.. exactly.. Please Please Please... this is such an important Shortcut. When you work in big documents, this smal shortcuts to add layermasks, or to subtract them ore mix.. are one of those shortcuts, you desperatly need to work fast.. In Architectural Visualisation you have to deal with dozens of layers that are mixed, grouped combined.. and often you have to aply masks ore effects to many of them at once. having this shortcut would improove usability of Affinity for my company very very much. And i am sure for everyone else too. Please implement this in the 1.7.. it should be done ease wouldnt it ?
  4. Thank you Dave Harris This worked out for the Text itself.. I made the secound heading a child of the first Heading. Now.. How can i make the TOC reflect the subheading.. and. how can i make the TOC also bring in the Numbering of my Headings ?
  5. Hi Steps... Well it is some generated 1500 Words text i just copied into the text to play with the settings.. But i still cant create automated numbering on my charpters and sub-charpters
  6. Hi, sorry to ask again. Under Textstyle i cant find a category > paragraph > Bullets and Numbering.. Ok i find it under the tab. Paragraph.. here i tried to put in the \1." and "\#". This does what i expected.. the Heading gets a Number 1. followed by the text.. But when i apply this to the textstyle "Heading 2", and update this textstyle with it, all my Headings get the same number.. the number 1. So what am i missing here.. also what would i have to do to number for exmple a Heading 1.1 1.2 1.3.. is ther out any tutorial about this ? When you didnt ever work with indesign on a professional level, this still is very confusing.. sorry. ill put two screenshots.
  7. Hi.. I would like to know how i can make a Headline 1 or also a Headline 2 automaticaly get numbered when i put in a new Charpter Headline.. for example.. Charpter 1 Subcharpter 1.1 Subcharpter 1.2 Charpter 2 ... i got no idea how to do this..
  8. What the.... you are right.. its publisher.. as i told.. i should sleep longer... never the less.. i resolved it by turning on my brain again..
  9. sorry... of course.. maybe i didnt sleep enough.. i only can see the layer of the one selected page.. arrrrgghh
  10. I Created a document for trying out the toc funktionalities... In this process, i placed several images in the document.. but when i look to the layermanager, the images dont appear there only two of them... in the Ressourcemanager they are all there.. also, when i click on them, the shown images in the layer manager switch over to the selected images, but only two are shown in the layermanager all the time... so is this a bug ore am i missing something ?
  11. Hi, I know, Publisher at the moment doesn´t give you an option to pack the file, together with all linked images, and the text fonts.. (which is very problematic as i think when working together with external companies)... Now.. in Workflow, you often place images coming from a big folder with much more images as you finaly use in your document.. so i wanted to clear up al the unused images, by relinking the embeded images to a new location.. I hoped i could do so by embedding all images, and by making them "linked" to a new folder... I hoped by doing so, Publisher would have copied all embeded Images to a new folder , i could point affinity publisher to.. in some demovideo i think i have seen something like this.. but it doesent seem to work... any idea ? Or do i realy have to clean up my workingfolder by hand, image by image ?
  12. Hi Serfif.. This could also be posted in the affinity photo section , but i tried it with the beta and also the standart photo... so ill post it here... As i allready mentioned, for professional work on BIG compositings, as you do it all the time in architectural ore Rendering work , you need to compose dozens and hundreds of layers in some cases.. So you all the time need to select many layers, and put corrections on top for all of them at once.. Soo what you need to do is to select their pixelmask very often.. additive ! or to deselect from a mask , because something in the layerstack is above... in Photoshop this is done at the blink of an eye... just select the layer, press strg+shift. click on the icon of the layer and the selection gets selected additive ore gets substracted from an existing selection... !!! in affinity this is horribly slow.. you cant add a selection by shortcut... you have to create a sparechannel layer by layer, and after this select them one by one and add them to a pixelselection.. this is so timeconsuming, the architects in my company are killing me for this one missing shortcut.. so i tried to ease the pain by creating a macro.. which ... fails.. in adding to an existing selection.. so my wish is twofold.. fix the macroglitch... but by far more important, add this one so important shortcut to the layermanager... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.. You will find the macro i created and also a pdf showing what i want to do and how i tried to achieve it with the macro at the bottom of this post.. macro fail.pdf layer add pixelselections.afmacro
  13. Wasn´t it planed to give some way of moving the grid , using the gridmanager ? This could help.. not sure if its allready implemented. edit: indeed it is.. ill put a screenshot.. greetings Tom
  14. Hi, So this seems to be to complicated ? First Problem extrem high memory consumption, Secound Problem, Why are there those boxes with crosses when i print a pdf `? Any ideas ?
  15. Hi, I run into several Problems when Printing a PDF file from a testdocument of an architectural contest broschuere, i try to rebuild to analyse publishers possibilitys. The Document contains about 140 Sides, (the Original indesign file has got about 190 Sdes...), and i just wanted to print out a pdf. So i selectes export pdf X-4 and reduced somewhat the Raster DPi. Well .. first , when opening the document my memory print allready jumps up to about 4 GB . The file only contains linked files, so i think everything gets loaded to the memory. But while Printing, my memory goes upt to about 27 GB.. which realy is very high.. maybe, because Architects put many Printed Florplans as Pdfs in their Broschures ? In Indesign they are rasterised, while the Affinity products try to import vector datas which.... for Architects realy isnt needed because you won´t open them to change them in Affinity... you allways do this in Cad Programs that by far more suitable for such a task. Now it took realy long.. to print it.. and also when i printed, i saw that there are some objects printed with a subtile cross inside of it. for example my embedded Icons. So how can i get rid of them. Also.. why does the printing process take so horribly long and produce a memoryprint so big. ? any ideas ? I put some images for clarifying.. thanks for help
  16. Wow... MEB.. this was a fast answer... you´ve even been faster as my correction of my own post...
