I'm attaching a screenshot of AP with the Soft Proof adjustment layer
It appears that in the Soft Proof window you are around midway down a very long list -- note the tiny scrollbar & the up/down buttons on the right edge of the scroll track.
So what happens if you grab the scrollbar & move it up or down?

Just lock the reference layer?
That's what I do, so with it on top & its opacity set to 30-60% depending on what it contains, it makes it easy to use it as a guide for my vector additions.

@Ros17: Note that each vector object will be created on its own layer, not all lumped into the same one. This will give you lots of flexibility in how the final design looks, so for instance you could vary how the layers are stacked to change which ones overlap others, hide some objects temporarily, & change that at any time.

You are probably missing the End of Paragraph symbol.
I guess I was but sometimes no matter what I did I could not even select the entire paragraph -- it did not begin selecting the beginning characters of where I started dragging through the text, as if I had not started the drag until midway through the paragraph, nor would it even select all the way to the end of the paragraph, much less including the EOP symbol.
I was mostly testing with art text, if that makes any difference.
Oddly, where it did work reasonably consistently was if I just started the drag slightly above & to the left of the text & included just a small part of the first character & released the mouse, the entire paragraph inherited my named style.

Yes, that's exactly what it does if you follow the instructions I provided. Give it a try.
I did but when I used a custom paragraph Text Style I created named "Weird Text Style" based on no other style & applied it to a block of text, all the attributes of that block changed to its attributes, but that block still showed "No Style" for its name in the Text Styles panel, not my "Weird Text Style."
What am I doing wrong?

It would be an absolute deal breaker and unheard of for a software if it couldn't operate with files on a Thunderbolt 4 NVMe and I'm saying that after 30 years of using Apple Mac.
As I said, it doesn't always cause problems but it is a well-known problem that does affect some users from time to time.

Could you please elaborate a bit more?
There are dozens of posts about this. Try searching the forum on "corrupted files" or the like for many in depth discussions about how Affinity's unique way of serializing & only loading parts of documents at once, its need to have continuous access to the document on the disk, & so on creates a potential risk ... & how often we have complained that they still have not found a way to reduce the risk to zero.

1. Visibility does not affect if a selected item's bounding box is visible or not.
2. In your screenshots, the status bar shows that 3 objects are selected, so one of them must be farther down in the Layers panel.

If you mean that you scrolled the view then what went down was the document, not its contents. I do not know if this has anything to do with it but it might help if you could clarify what you meant by content & where the mouse pointer was when you used the wheel.

... I have all working files on a fast NVME ...
I assume you are aware of the potential issues Affinity apps have when actually working on files that are not stored on the startup drive. The recommendation is to copy the file to that drive, work on it there, & then move it back to the other dive for storage. Yes, this is certainly a PITA & some users never seem to have problems working directly on external ones, but there are many examples here in the forums of files that have become corrupted & unusable when working that way.
Also, what interface do you use to connect the NVME drive to the Mac? Some can become temporarily overloaded if too many different devices are trying to access the same shared buss at the same time, & even if the drive itself is extremely fast, it can cause errors particularly in Affinity if the drive is not immediately & continuously available.

Now that I see Canon IJ Common Reflective D2, I think that must refer to Canon paper Canon IJ (inkjet) and the common reflective must mean glossy.
What has changed? Can you share a screenshot of the soft proof dialog showing this profile in its list of profiles?

it copy copies the attributes of a style rather than the style with name itself which isn’t so useful.
AFAIK, this is how the Style Picker Tool is designed to work: it just copies whichever of the attributes that are enabled in that tool's context toolbar, which could be a subset of those used in a named style, or possibly a mix of ones that are & are not in any named text style.
If you want to apply a particular named text style to selected text objects, I believe the intended way is via the Text Styles panel. Also maybe refer to the linked Using text styles help topic....

The menus are all now in completely different places than they were before. I have to change tabs in order to display each of them, instead of seeing them in a menu bar across the top.
What tabs are you referring to? Do you have several documents open so you would normally see a tab for each of them or something else?
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "menus" in this context. Do you possibly mean the Toolbar or Context Toolbar that normally appear across the top of the UI?
-
Could you explain more about how you scrolled all the content down in the app? Do you perhaps mean you dragged it down on the canvas using the Move tool, or dragged everything down in the Layer panel?
BTW, it is better to provide screenshots of the entire app UI (or in this case at least the entire Layer panel) rather than just tiny segments. This is because something might be obvious from the full app UI that would help explain what is going on.

Not when you have external volumes.
No, not unusual if you are saving to attached & mounted external volumes, but you would explicitly have to choose to do that & you might run into permissions & other issues if for instance the volume is used for Time Machine backups, isn't available for one reason or another, & so on.
Thus my questions about that file path & if saving to the local startup drive user's home folder works.
-
@Skegnas, jusr curious but what is the name of the app you referred to as "the native iOS PDF viewer"?
-
It would help if you could post an example file, one with just the un-sculpted curve you are trying to sculpt in it. This might reveal something we can't tell from just the screenshot.
-
It is unusual on Macs to see a file path beginning with /Volumes/. How did you set it to that & why? This may cause some permissions issues unless the file path is to some folder you have write access to.
Also, is "Main HD 8TB/" the name you have given to your startup disk or something else?
If you instead change the save location to somewhere in your current user's home folder do you still get an error?

Try saving the file to your local drive. I know almost nothing about the Merch by Amazon thing but it appears to be a service, possibly one that you subscribe to? Is it known to be compatible with iCloud service?

Once it's calibrated, I will add a soft proof adjustment layer.
Calibrating your monitor is independent of adding a soft proof layer -- as has been mentioned, a calibrated monitor is necessary to get the most accurate simulation possible on the monitor, but it will not have any effect on the soft proof itself.

In case I have to draw a closed shape, I don't use pen or pencil tool. I start with rectangular shape and convert it to curve. Then I start to reposition the nodes and add new ones as needed.
That seems to me like a very odd, inefficient way to work, one I would never use. It would be particularly annoying for any even moderately complex shape that is not composed almost entirely of sharp nodes, like this simple curve.afdesign that might be used as a starting point for a cartoon head.

One thing I still don't understand about the Soft Proof is that it lets me choose one profile, so how do I choose the Display profile, the Paper profile, AND the Printer profile (and I don't see a profile for Canon paper there anyway).
The display profile has nothing to do with choosing the printer profile, other than if it is properly calibrated (as has been mentioned!) your soft proof will most closely (but not exactly!) simulate the printed results. So please do not keep bringing the display profile into this -- it will only confuse you until you understand that the display profile is not used for printing, period.
As for the paper & printer profile, if you get & use the proper profile for the Canon paper you use, it will be the appropriate one for your printer as well as your paper. One source for these profiles is https://www.redrivercatalog.com/profiles/canon-g5020-g6020-g7020-printer-color-profiles.html. Note that they are for Windows only.
It is a 16 MB zipped file & that includes all the profiles & instructions for how to install them. The site also has an installation instructional video here

Where is this export folder? What is the full file path to it?
-
6 hours ago, Kevin Maguire said:
For some reason, both apps changed my export folder to McIntosh HD.
At least on my Mac, the only way I can make that happen is to explicitly choose McIntosh HD as the export location in the export dialog -- IOW, the apps never do that by themselves. If I do that, I do get a 'con't be created' error message. That is because even admin user accounts do not have write access to the top level of the HD, so the message should say something about not having permission to create the file there.
But regardless of that, I cannot think of any way the app could set that as the export location unless the user did that either intentionally or by accident.

In the Layers panel, click on the top layer inside the Artboard and then shift-click on the bottom layer. This will select all the layers contained by the Artboard, but not the Artboard itself.
If you do that, an alternative is to drag all those layers above the artboard layer, then just delete the now empty artboard at the bottom of the layer stack. It is probably a slightly safer way to do it than the cut & paste method.
