Hi Development Team, the collective request from so many of your loyal user base should I hope justify providing the dimensioning tools that have been asked for, since almost day one of this otherwise excellent application. It seems such a shame that this feature request has been unanswered for so long.

Appreciating your respective posts, we remain unable to include vector scaled dimensions on our designs, and thus continue to miss out on a valuable and powerful feature from this otherwise excellent application 😭

Sadly the years roll-by with no apparent take-up by the design team to remedy this clearly widely requested ability. To do so would, as Roger has just suggested, take Affinity Designer to a status above that of CorelDRAW. I sincerely hope the designers finally take this on-board and thus lay this shortfall to rest, once and for all.

Thanks for keeping this topic alive and well. By doing so it is hopefully sending a clear message from the User community to the Development Team that this is a facility that would indeed lift Affinity Designer above the drawing package mix up into a feature rich design platform.

Great to see the new features in the latest release of Designer, well done Development Team.

A 'Dimensions' facility was a much talked about and requested for addition to the Designer back in 2015; search for the thread started by by tabtabai on 15th October 2015. 
I believe this facility should once again be brought centre stage for inclusion at the earliest possible update.

Thanks for your correction to my misinterpretation of how these application relate. I stand corrected.
That said, it remains my opinion that Affinity Designer should have the capability to include dimensions on drawings, as voiced other readers. Obviously, each users may agree or disagree, as is their right to do so. And I continue to be disappointed that the development team has not responded.

I do find it disappointing that Serif Draw that has had this capability for years should be a missing a dimensions feature in what purports to be Draw's replacement, packed with more up to date tools and features. Worse still is the continued silence from the Serif and the production team!?

I for one had been looking forward to being able to remove Draw from the an increasing clutter on my PC, but sadly this appears for now not to be possible.

Please add my vote of support to the large number of Beta testers that have called for a Dimension Tool. In my humble opinion as a user that believed the move from Draw to Affinity should represent a forward progression in graphical capabilities rather than a step backwards. Do please introduce what in my view is an essential capability for what is otherwise a wonderful design/drawing package.

Like Harry, see quote below, I'm a Windows Affinity user that's moved on from Draw Plus 8. I too miss the 'Dimensions on drawings' feature of DP8 that is so useful within my small metal/wood work projects. So I'd like to add my name to a request for this facility be bumped up the priority list for inclusion in Affinity as soon as possible.

 

In all other respects I'm very impressed with Affinity and look forward to making continued use of it. Well done team.

[Affinity Designer on Windows (1.5.0.4)]

Hi Andy et al,

 

Just downloaded 1.5.0.4 on Win10 Home and it fires-up OK thanks. As far as I've seen so far it is stable and operating as expected.

One question however - how to make a text box frame visible and/or fill it with a background colour? I'm clearly missing the obvious on this one!
