  1. Broken for me when uploading 1.1 MB MP4 file Alternates between error 7 and unable to render the file format when uploaded
  2. Affinity Publisher and Visio allow creating text on any shape without converting the shape to a text box. This allows the shape's fill, stroke etc. to be changed while keeping the text (and formatting) associated with it as a single object. Looks like the forum's media uploader is broken at the moment so external link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1z29My7P08jgEiAnriVN6NOK5VsrXxUxE/view https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/tutorials/publisher/desktop/video/337299876/ This would be extremely useful in Designer for creating UI elements such as buttons. Instead of having a group consisting of both a shape and text, it can be a single object with directly editable text. In Designer, as soon as I insert text onto/into a shape, the shape is converted to a text box without any fill or border properties.
  3. I have the shortcuts on my taskbar and hate it when a program adds desktop shortcuts without asking first.
  4. Re-adding this as it's still not implemented and seems the most logical approach. I imagine the majority of users wouldn't want to nudge by pixels when their document is set to millimetres, or nudge by mm when their document is in inches. At the moment the nudge distance is absolute/fixed, why not give an option to make it relative to the document units. Existing: Suggested:
  5. Text with line breaks does not have the transforms flattened when exported as SVG even though the setting is active. If the 'Export text as curves' option is checked it fixes it, but only if the text doesn't have line breaks. If the text is manually converted to curves before export it works. Export config: Notice the <g transform on line 4 <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd"> <svg width="709px" height="709px" version="1.1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xml:space="preserve" xmlns:serif="http://www.serif.com/" style="fill-rule:evenodd;clip-rule:evenodd;stroke-linejoin:round;stroke-miterlimit:2;"> <g transform="matrix(6.12323e-17,1,-1,6.12323e-17,1453.53,-298.499)"> <text x="460.111px" y="1064.97px" style="font-family:'ArialMT', 'Arial', sans-serif;font-size:208.333px;">T<tspan x="564.278px 680.143px " y="1064.97px 1064.97px ">es</tspan>t</text> <text x="460.111px" y="1280.12px" style="font-family:'ArialMT', 'Arial', sans-serif;font-size:208.333px;">T<tspan x="564.278px 680.143px " y="1280.12px 1280.12px ">ex</tspan>t</text> </g> </svg> Fail.afdesign Fail as text.svg Fail as curves.svg Expected as curves.svg
  6. Unfortunately, it doesn't produce as good of a result when compared to PS and requires lots of messing around to get it close when dealing with complex cut-outs.
  7. This is the only thing for me that keeps me using my old version of Photoshop. It's so simple to use the magic wand tool on a an image with clear edges to create a good cut-out in PS, but in AD it creates a horrible jaggy edge. I see that you already support anti-alias for the freehand selection, so I'm surprised it hasn't also been added to the magic wand tool. Or is it because it's the freehand selection creates a vector selection (while drawing) and therefore easier to anti-alias the edges vs. antialiasing a pixelated selection? Actual: Expected:
  8. = and + share the same key (ignoring numeric keypad which may not be present on all devices) on common keyboard layouts, with = being the default and + only working if shift is also pressed. Ctrl + = seems logical to me because it functions without the shift modifier. Ctrl + + could imply that the shift must also be pressed.
  9. First use of AP in a while and it immediately breaks... Create a new document. Drag a Photo or Designer document into a newly created document from Windows Explorer/Desktop. AP hangs (still responding to Windows message system / no 'not responding' message). Window is not draggable. [Redacted] Example document below House template.afdesign xNV7wseEGS.mp4
  10. Thanks MEB. I had forgotten that. As you say, not the same or as powerful as Illustraor's isolation mode, but somewhat useful nevertheless.
  11. I would like a mode where you can open a group or other container and edit these in isolation where all mouse and keyboard events stay within the group. For example Ctrl + A selects everything in the isolated container and not the other parts of the document, clicking and dragging (for selecting multiple objects) outside of the container doesn't cancel the container edit mode etc. When in this mode the other objects in the artboard/document should become more translucent/faded to indicate they are not being edited. The following video shows entering the isolation mode by double clicking in Illustrator and this is what I would like: https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/illustrator/using/selecting-objects.html https://www.webucator.com/how-to/how-use-isolation-mode-adobe-illustrator.cfm
  12. I have a file with two overlapping shapes, one rotated +90 degrees and the other -90 degrees. If I perform an add operation there is a joining line. However, if I rotate both shapes -90 degrees releative to their previous position (clockwise in the software) so that they become 0 degrees and 180 degrees respectively, the add operation performs as expected. Add operation.afdesign
  13. @Bri-Toon, that's a good point and the colour option also seems like a good addition. This may also be of interest:
  14. Also would be useful in the following case to show the number of lines/segments to determine if the path is closed as they both appear the same:
  15. Thanks for the explanation @JET_Affinity I understand how Affinity handles it with the control points; it was just my intuition being way off and not thinking n nodes allows for a maximum of n lines/segments per path. As soon as one of these lines becomes a curve, it seems obvious to allow a closed path and I can see why disallowing closed paths for straight lines may be a hindrance to the user. Two more suggestions then: numerical manipulation of the control points and the number of lines / segments in addition to the number of nodes per path.
  16. I'd never really considered it before. Perhaps it could be improved with a reason for why the curve join, or any operation for that matter, failed? Another one for migration to the feature requests and feedback forum I guess.
  17. Well spotted. I had just come to the same conclusion. I would have expected a minimum of 3 nodes to close a curve. Confused. Is that the real bug?
  18. The lines in this document don't work with the join curves tool: Join curves failure.afdesign These were from a PDF import of this: Sanus VLF628_TD_180917.pdf
  19. I've seen this topic raised before and I'm sure the devs are well aware of the need for scripting, but the previous features requests seem to have been moved to "Older Feature Requests & Suggestion Posts" and I wanted to keep it in the fore-front. Providing a method manipulate the document and interface programmatically using a customisable set of common UI controls would be such a huge step forward and allow the number of features to grow exponentially: As will always be the case, in almost all software, the development can't keep up with the sheer number of feature requests. At least with some sort of scripting, a number of these features could be implemented by the community, even if it is just an interim workaround/patch. They may not be the most refined implementation and some may even be darn right hacky, but at least it simplifies someone's work-flow. Below are some prime candidates where the community could use scripting to implement missing/desired features in a more timely manner. Simplify path (starting with the easier straight line only version) Convert nodes to basic shape (rectangle and circle) - basic shape pattern matching of selected nodes. Merge node doubles/duplicates Select same color / fill / stroke / appearance Select/filter by type Measure line/path length/distance in addition to displacement Offset path I know this is a huge undertaking to implement and lots of thought to go into this, but I could see it paying itself back in the long-run.
  20. The object snapping seems to order snapping candidate preference in order of most recently selected, which works really well. I would like a similar behaviour for nodes. This would allow for aligning nodes horizontally and vertically. I did try the alignment tools, but it doesn't appear to work with nodes, only objects. Even if it worked, the guides would allow for faster alignment in this case.
  21. Further to my previous suggestion for showing the number of selected nodes, it would be nice to have a remove doubles operation that merges all nodes that are within a certain radius of other nodes into a single node. Again, borrowing from Blender 3D: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/modeling/meshes/editing/vertices.html#remove-doubles
  22. Instead of Click + Shift or Drag + Shift it would make sense to change it to Shift + Click and Shift + Drag respectively. This then matches the natural operation order and convention of key modifier first e.g. Ctrl + Alt + Delete would never (under normal circumstances) be written Delete + Ctrl + Alt.
  23. Why would this be useful? The below should sum it up. Even in outline view with zoom at maximum you cant tell. For objects it shows how many are selected, but not for vertices/nodes.
