This is actually done from the Guides Manager (view menu) - there is a section there for setting column guides.
I believe this is also enabled in the View menu somewhere... don't have it in front of me at the moment...

Try clicking on the text ruler shown by View > Show Text Ruler.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums
It's not possible yet. There are plans to be able to open IDML files in the future
