  1. Bruce,

Changes to the doc were requested,so I re-drew the grid, and converted some of the text into curves (special reasons).

    The sequence:

    1. created the document & saved the doc in afdesign.format

2.Exported this to PDF format 300 dpi, RGB

    3.Opened PDF

Lo & behold : there are the little triangles again.
They seem to be at the crossing points of lines only, not the text curves and look to be "floating" above the lines themselves.
What's more : the layer names have not been "ported" to the PDF document.

Here are both docs, maybe you or someone else could make sense of what took place during the PDF conversion -I'm baffled-

=======It becomes really clear when you select one triangle, change its fill&stroke colour, then select through "select same".=====

    Thanks,

    C.L.

  2. I've never seen this before, maybe someone has an explanation ?

    >>>>Please NOTE : there are 2 groups, these are arrows, originally they were arrowed lines that turned into separate trangles & lines upon exporting as PDF.
The red-lined part is the duplicate, I coloured it red for clarity's sake.
The circles point to 2 of the many triangles.<<<<<<

    Here's the sequence:
    1. Created A4 document on 1 half of an A4, then duplicated same and placed next to the first.
Documenty consists of lines, arrowed lines, a rectangle, and  text.
    2. Exported to PDF for print, dpi 300.
    3. Opened said PDF for editing.
    4. Upon opening Layers panel noticed umpteen triangles, at the crossing point of lines.
    5. Saved document with "save as" as afdesign file after opening as PDF , changed only the colour of the red triangle.

Can anyone tell me what these triangles are ? They seem to be "standalone", you can drag them away.

As always : all input highly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    C.L.

  3. I need to place a number of chevrons in a vertical centrered line-up along a guide.
It appears that the object handles and the node position differ.

In first instance the object snaps to the guides per the object handles instead of the nodes
after which I have to reposition it so that it snaps to the nodes.

This is really noticeable when zooming in closely (f.i. +900% and up).

Is there something I can change in the snap-settings ?

    All help appreciated, Thanks,

    C.L.

  4. Here's the path to my .propcol files  (Big Sur 11.6.5). I assume you know how to retrieve the file from your time machine backup ?

If not, please reply to this post.

    Good luck.

    MacHD/Users/Username [your username]/Library/Containers/Affinity Designer/Data/Library/Application Support/User

EDITED : It appears from your original post that you're mixing a Windows path (backslashes) with a Mac path (forward slashes only).
Which of the two is on your Time Machine backup ?
Make sure you've got the correct path on TM.

  5. Thanks, guys. I tried David's suggestion, got it done via the menu toolbar, that works.
Then to RC-R's comment : although I'm quite a novice as far as macros are concerned, it seems to me
that a comprehensive function list won't go amiss. And especially : which tool to use,  the side toolbar icons or the menu toolbar ???
I've now tried to perform quite a number of actions, and sometimes even the simplest one, like changeing line color is impossible.
One can get it done by a workaround, but really : should that be necessary ?

  6. I'm trying to record a macro. I'm getting stuck at moving a child layer to above the parent layer.
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what. Here's the sequence:

    >Open JPG
    >Select JPG
    >Duplicate JPG
    >Layer >New >Adjustm.Layer > HSL >Saturation to -100

The Adjustm.Layer is now a child of the Parent JPG. This is according to the setting in the Asst.Options.
    >Move the AdjustmLayer to above the Parent layer. This is where it gets stuck. The Child layer is not selectable, see attachment.1671629389_Screenshot2021-11-24at17_19_15.png.cce9b2c983f78f66fff7ff059b89be8f.png
If I force the issue by : 1-select first the parent, then 2-select only the Child layer (which is now selectable),
I get another message,  "move" not possible, see attachment.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong here, but what ? I could set the Asst.Options to place the child above,
but further down the line that would get me into trouble all over again.
Any input is welcome, thanks in advance.

    C.L.

  7. Thanks, RC-R.

I'm not worried about the mouse reappearing, but I am worried when the mouse does not make a comeback.
To me, that indicates something might be amiss with the OS.
It's a genuine Apple bluetooth mouse, so I'm wondering if something in the startup sequence of Photo
in conjunction with Big Sur interferes with Bluetooth.
Or, whether Big Sur is the culprit - I'm not at all happy with Big Sur - but that's beside the point.
As I said, it does not happen with Designer, nor with any of the other programs I have installed.

Do you happen to know if there's any "startup" report made in the background and where that would be saved to ?
    Thanks, C.L.

  8. I'm running OSX Big Sur 11.6.1

The mouse disappears briefly upon each startup of AffPhoto and the beachball appears for a second or two.
Once Photo has started up, the mouse re-appears and the beachball disappears.
This does not happen when starting up Designer.
However, it also happens that the mouse does not make a comeback which means that I have to shutdown
Photo without use of the mouse which frankly, with Mac is a pain in the whatsit.
Then I have to startup Photo again.
Could anyone shed any light on this behaviour ?

    Thanks, C.L.

  9. Here are some "vector" brushes, zippers, stitches.

I downloaded them a long time ago from the "Resources" section of the forum, but I cannot find them anymore so I can't send you a link.
They are NOT pure vector as GarryP already mentioned.
Please post a "Thank you" to the now anonymous maker of these brushes.

WARNING: I searched for "Fashion" in the Resources section and ended up at a Post that had Fashion brushes available.
There were a lot of replies that mentioned a faulty or no link.
Do NOT click the link that is available. You'll get a warning (Safari) that the link is no longer valid and is unsafe to visit.

  10. If I may be so bold as to put in my 2 cents worth : The adding/moving/snapping of guides through various tools has been an issue for a long, long time.

It was at one point fixed, e.g. you could add & move guides with various tools and then, after placing  move them again with the move/node tool,
on the fly, so to speak while from then on snapping was no issue at all either.

At one point after an update (can't remember which version, sorry) this was suddenly no longer possible and the perfect snapping went out the window as well.
Even though various posts mentioned this deterioration in functionality, it was never fixed.
Could it be that someone initially fixed the issue and after that, when some work was needed on that particular piece of code, a different person was appointed to the task and "fixed" it again, without knowing what had been done before.
Not saying this is what happened, but I can't imagine that it was deliberately "unfixed".

  11. Please see link.
This is an Architecture Sketch Photoshop effect , made with a PS action.
I would like to re-create a similar effect with AffPhoto.
As far as I can see it's a combination of a base-picture, a number of texture layers, and a sketch-effect.
But I haven't been able to find any of the required textures, the sketch-effect, nor can I figure out
if/when found how to stick them into a macro.
I'd love some help on this.
    Thanks in advance,

    Catlover

  12. @Old Bruce : Yes, all of them are supposed to be 0.20pt, quarter circle as well as the lines.
I've just looked at my file again curve by curve and it shows as I stated above : on ALL curves the dialog box says the stroke is 0.20pt,
    but obviously they're not.  ( BTW : I'm on Mojave 1.14.6.)

    This is really weird....

I'll try and put together a little screen recording, but I'm limited as to its upload-size
because of provider restrictions. To be continued.

@walt.farrell : Yes, I understand, but the bug reporting section states specifically pre-1.9. and this item pertains to 1.10.0.
So, where else to post it  but in Questions

  13. See attachment.
The top-quarter circles have a stroke of 0.2 pt.

The bottom quarter circles are a duplicate of the top ones.
Method: top ones grouped > duplicate>flipped>ungrouped.

The vertical lines in between were added one at a time,  at stroke  0.2 pt, as a continuation curve
of each of the individual top quarter circle strokes.
The lines obviously are not 0.2pt even though the dialog box shows 0.2pt.
    >>>>>Now, click anywhere in the empty space. The dialog box all of the sudden shows 0.3pt. (????)

As there is no Bug-section for 1.10.0 as yet, I've posted this in the Questions section.

    But I think it's a bug ?
