  1. Oh!!! Protect Alpha should be OFF, not on. 🙄 It was on. I switched Protect Alpha to off and it works now. thank you.
  2. I can also use the pixel brush tool, but it looks too pixelie to use. Looks like a serious bug, or some corruption in the file settings. Any help is appreciated. MacOS 10.14.6 Affinity Photo 1.8.4
  3. You can see in the video, protect alpha is on. The video shows hardness at 0%, but switching to 100% makes no different.
  4. I can not get affinity photo to brush in a mask or remove a mask by using the brush tool. type -> b (for brush) or (select brush/paint brush tool) select white or black. Neither one works. Mask color is set to greyscale, or RGB. Mask is all white or all black. I can draw colors, white or black on a non-layered image, but can not paint with white or black on a layer. The only thing that works is to use the erase tool to paint with black or to use the paint mixer brush to paint with white. I tried resetting to factory defaults. That didn't work. I am on a Mac using the version from the App Store. help please.
  5. I would very much like the option to remember the location of the original file. Perhaps there could be a preference setting that would allow for this. What do you say Affinity/Serif?
  6. scenario #2 - using Capture One I typically take photos using capture one. This is my preferred pre-editor. I will often have to blend 4-5 images together. In the CO12 software I will generate a tif or psd and then send it to another editor. When I do this, when I select file -> "save as" or "save" the same thing happens. The directory of the last file saved will come up. /path/to/CO/session1/Capture/image1 /path/to/CO/session2/Capture/image2 So I am working on image1 in CO, then generate a tif which opens AP Do a bunch of edits, then go to save. file -> "save as" the last directory where I saved /path/to/dir1/ comes up as the directory to save. At this point, I then have to figure out where my image1 was generated and go to /path/to/CO/session1/Output and save it there. Then I am in CO again working on image2. I generate a tif and it gets sent to AP. Do another bunch of edits, then save. file -> "save as" the last directory /path/to/CO/session1/Output I have to figure out where image2 was generated and go to /path/to/CO/session2/Output On and on it goes. In scenario #2 AP should know to save the file image1 in .../session1/Output also image2 should know to go in .../session2/Output and any other file that is generated from CO that is send to AP.
  7. Why can't AP automatically save to the location from where the file was open? Can you at least create an option in preferences so that it can be changed? The current feature/bug is to save the file to the last saved location. If I have more than one file open at a time and I want to save them, I have to find the right location for each save each time. consider the following real scenario I find myself in frequently /path/to/dir1/file1 -> drag open to affinity photo using a mouse /path/to/dir2/file2 -> drag open to affinity photo using a mouse /path/to/dir3/file3 -> drag open to affinity photo using a mouse /path/to/dir4/file4 -> drag open to affinity photo using a mouse /path/to/dir5/file5 -> drag open to affinity photo using a mouse If I save file 1 file -> "save as" or file -> save then find the right location for file1, then go to file 2 and save I then have to find the right location for that file2. It works the same for every file 1-5. This workflow is so time consuming I just can't stand using AP The same time consuming workflow happens if I use file -> export Perhaps there is something wrong in my workflow. Maybe a video explaining how to save would help me. Please fix this bug.
  8. I want to keep this bug in the developers minds. I can not use affinity photo because of this and I really want to use this software. If I have more than one file open at a time and I want to save them, I have to find the right location for each save each time. /path/to/dir1/file1 -> drag open to affinity photo using a mouse /path/to/dir2/file2 -> drag open to affinity photo using a mouse /path/to/dir2/file3 -> drag open to affinity photo using a mouse /path/to/dir2/file4 -> drag open to affinity photo using a mouse /path/to/dir2/file5 -> drag open to affinity photo using a mouse If I save file 1 file -> save as then find the right location for file1, then go to file 2 and save I then have to find the right location for that file2. It works the same way for the doing file -> export It works the same for every file. This workflow is time consuming. Perhaps there is something wrong in my workflow. Please post a video about how to save or fix this bug.
  9. bump. This feature appears to still be the same. Are there any plans to change it?
  10. I just want to chime in on this topic as something that is highly annoying. Is there a way to set a preference to allow users to save in the location that the file was opened? This would save a lot of time in my workflow. John
  11. The spare channel selection works. That is better than saving the selection as a file outside of the edited file. It can add a lot of adjustment layers when doing portraiture. Imagine four or more people in a portrait and a separate selection for each persons eyes and teeth. 8+ layers. Thank you, Andy.
  12. I would reiterate the usefulness of saving a selection within the edited photo of AP so that the selection can be brought up later. Specifically, If I have file 001.afphoto, I have made a section, and made edits to that selection. Lets say, I quit out because I think I am done. Later I open 001.afphoto and realize that I forgot something. If I was smart enough to save the selection, it would be a separate file outside of 001.afphoto. This is not as practical as having the selection saved within the 001.afphoto. I may have made dozens of changes to the same person or a different persons eyes. In which case I would have to figure out which eyes.afselection is the right one for 001.afphoto. Please figure out a way to save the selection within the 001.afphoto working space.
  13. I would like to suggest that you somehow remember the changes made in the develop persona when switching to the photo persona. It would be great to be able to switch back to the develop persona and see the original raw file with the changes that I made. If I can make changes to the original raw file after making changes in the photo persona, it would be even better if those changes rolled into the photo persona. This would give AP the functional equivalent to PS Smart Objects.
