  1. Hmm ok I found it - seems it is derived from the Document Margin settings and only appears in the first artboard. My guess is it should show in every artboard if it is enabled rather than just the first one - particularly given multiple artboards can be used to represent multiple pages of the same document. Perhaps a feature request to set this on a per artboard level or show it in every artboard by default if it is enabled.
  2. What is the frame (blue rectangle around images) that is shown in the first artboard and why does it not appear in artboards that are added ? This frame seems to be added automatically to the first artboard in new documents. Is it possible to remove it or edit its position ? What is its intended purpose and how to remove it or add to new artboards? Thanks
  3. Still no way to copy and paste a crop so the identical crop can be applied to two different images ?
  4. Hi, I want to change the vertical ruler direct in Affinity Designer to be +ve going up and _ve going down. Very weird to have -ve on the top side of the axis when drawing. 0,0 is usually bottom left.
  5. Pretty much every photograph exported as jpg has pretty bad posterisation in the backgrounds. Is there any way to prevent this when exporting to jpg. Thanks
  6. I will try the macro and add that to the batch job which will resize the files. Thanks
  7. I'm am trying to downsample an image and set the dpi to 144. I know setting dpi to 144 does downsample the image. Like File->Export and set output size and DPI. The only way seems to be using the export persona - but that doesn't work for batch mode.
  8. Can you provide step by step instructions on how one does this. I am running into a lot of posterization when downsampling photographs to jpg. Thanks
  9. Is there any way to do this with a batch job ? I want to downsample and set DPI to 144 from the default 300 DPI
  10. How can I generate output with a transparent background when using artboards. It seems that the background defaults to white rather than transparent - is it possible to change this ?
  11. Perhaps this is an obvious solution to more experienced users but once I do a "Merge Visible" on the layer below the foreground layer and then disable all the background layers performance is more or less back to what I would normally experience. Is this the usual step that is required to keep performance acceptable ? I guess perhaps I might have expected Affinity Photo to create its own 'working copy' of the unchanged parts of the layer stack if nothing lower down has been changed.
  12. I was unable to make small rectangular selection - I could make the selection but if I let the mouse button go the selection kept disappearing. It too some time to realise that the Feather setting was too big. It might be better to simply allow the small selection when this happens and to ignore the feather value or at least pop up a message saying rectangle is smaller than feather value of xxx rather than relying on the user to figure out that some other setting is causing the selection to just disappear. The problem is that while dragging the mouse the selection shows perfectly fine but the moment you let the mouse button go -i.e. stop the selection - the selection box disappears with no indication why. Not the end of the world but a simple usability fix is all that is required to save people like me an hour 🙂
  13. I am using v1.9.3 and have just encountered significant performance problems when editing with multiple layers. I don't usually use this many layers (3 with 2 masks) but haven't previously noticed such dramatic performance problems - sometimes the app stalls completely for up to 30 seconds - and when using the "Refine Mask..." and brushing the edges the brushed area does not show up for 5 or 6 seconds after brushing. What gives, and I just expecting to much ? See attached file. Try the following steps to reproduce the issue. 1. Open the file (duh!) 2. Zoom in to an area under the birds beak (anywhere on the mask edge will probably do) 2. Select the foreground layer's mask (top layer called background lol!) 3. Right click on the mask icon and select "Refine mask..." menu option - this is where mine starts stalling 4. Brush on the edge of the mask - when I do the brush trail does not show for quite a few seconds - maybe 5 or 6 seconds - and the dreaded colour umbrella starts up !! 5. Cancel the action - and here mine renders part of the screen and shows blocks where the red mask overlay is not yet overdrawn, again for maybe 3 seconds or so. You can't pan or zoom the image during this so UI is stalled And then strangely if I close the file and open it again it might perform just fine. Running macOS 11.4 on MacBook Air (M1) 16GB RAM, 300GB free disk space. Have tried restarting Photo and restarting the laptop - neither seems to have any effect. This stalling makes Photo almost unusable now. Added screen recording video showing the issue. The dreaded umbrella does not get recorded (of course not!) 14. Sorry I don't understand what you are trying to show here - you're showing an animated image - what state should it look like ? My mask has been dropped on the image layer (background) as can be seen by the indented level and the down arrow on the background layer. It's not really clear to me how that is any different to what you are showing - assuming end state is the indented mask icon.
  15. It's 2021 and I am right clicking on a Mask Layer and see no Edit or Refine menu options - what gives here ?
