  1. Thanks. I have tried this but was looking for something a little more dynamic where I could have separate girds applied to the main image being worked on and the reference image, almost like a separate window. I don't think I can so will work around it with place image, but wanted to make sure I wasnt missing something obvious.
  2. Hi, I am currently working through some online training and one of the lessons is to copy a reference image using a grid. The demonstration uses photoshop and has the reference image as a popped out window. Is there a way to do this with AP on the iPad? Or easily achieve something similar. thanks
  3. Hi Dan / NotMyFault I had deleted the test file I had been using so cannot send it. However I have tried to recreate it and it appears to be working correctly now. Given I was playing around with brushes earlier this leads me to believe that NotMyFault is correct and the erase although it looked at least to my eyes as being 100% hard and fully deleting the marks was in fact leaving trace amounts of ink. which was being picked up by the fill. I will certainly be more aware of that going forward. Thank you both for the assist.
  4. Thanks Dan. My mistake on yellow/green confusion typo on my behalf. Original post corrected. Here is a screen recording of what happens for me. (thanks for the link on how to screen record.. very useful) Floodfill.MP4
  5. +1 for this This is a common feature in a lot of other apps and something that I find myself really missing in affinity. I know you can use the pen tool to draw straight lines but when you are doing brush work you sometimes want to just do a quick straight line using the same brush, same thickness etc. which can be difficult to get right if you have to switch to the pen. It really slows the workflow down.
  6. I have come across something a little odd that has got me baffled and hoping I can get some insight as to what is going on or if this is a bug. Basically when I use the eraser to remove a portion of an image and then use the flood fill tool to change the colour of what remains, it fills it in but also brings back the section that was previously erased in the new colour. Steps to recreate. 1. Create a new pixel layer and paint a big blue circle 2. Create a second pixel layer on top of the first and paint a red circle inside the blue circle 3. Change to the eraser tool and erase a portion the middle section of the red circle creating two half circles 4. Switch to the flood fill tool change the colour to yellow 5. Click the flood fill onto one of the red half circles. Both the two red half circles change to yellow but in addition the middle section previously erased re-appears also yellow. I would expect that if something is erased it is erased? Thanks
  7. +1 to this topic please. The ability to have a brush preview would be invaluable. I appreciate some might want it so a function to toggle it on and off would be superb. Having read the comments above it is clear that once upon a time this was implemented, so it should be a relatively small thing to re-implement assuming good source code control has been used ;o)
  8. Hi @Gabe @Joachim_L, I think I have started to get somewhere with this. The particular issue seems to actually occur only when I am using clock3.svg. It was happening with another image but I changed that and overwrote it and I think this had led me to think it was happening for all .svg files. I spent a bit of time last night swapping different images in and out and I am happy that it only occurs when using clock3. both clock3 and clock2 (and most of the other images i have used) are screen captures using the windows snipping tool, which are then opened in Affinity Designer with a black stroke applied to the image to provide a border. I have attached a copy of clock3 to this email but as the base image is essentially a .jpg there is not much to see when looking at the underlying xml, although I am no expert so you might see something different. I was only exporting as .svg as I thought it would help with file sizes and scaling, although as this is not a complete vector image I am not entirely certain it would make any difference. Clock3.svg
  9. Hi Gabe, sorry for the delay I got busy in work. I am however at a complete loss, as in trying to prep work out the how to screen record, i went through the steps but no matter how often I have tried to re-create the issue it now appears to be working correctly. Which is completely baffling as i know I am doing the same steps, including that as used in the document earlier. Which was simply 1. Drag out a text frame 2. select text -> insert > filler text 3. Select place image -> navigate to and select first image (sometimes this gives the icon to drag out the image, othertimes it places it inline, in which case I unpin it) 4. With image selected select text wrap, change to square and set a 3mm border on all sides 5. Select place image -> naviate to and select second image 6. With image selected select text wrap, change to square and set a 3mm border on all sides I will go through the process again a little later as I have done the same a number of times over the last few days and encountered the issue, So I have no idea why it is behaving now. I will pay attention to the process and if it occurs again I will let you know and try and get a screen recording.
  10. Hi Gabe, Sure I can give it a go. I have not done a screen recording before is there a particular way you would recommend to go about this? Regards,
  11. Hi @Gabe, Thanks for logging this. From what I can tell it seems to happen anytime I add more than one .svg file. I have attached a couple to this reply. If I change one of the files to a .png they will quite happily co-exist with text wrapping. Regards, TB_Circle.svg Clock2.svg
  12. Hi, There appears to be an issue with text wrap around multiple .svg images whereby the text wrapping settings of a second placed image is either ignored or only partially applied. The issue does not occur if a .png is used instead. This can be observed in my last post in the thread I am running on windows 10 with the late and AP 1.8.3.641 Thanks,
  13. Just wanted to shed some more light on this. It looks like the some of these issues are caused by the image being a .svg. I was having some of similar issues with the next section. as shown in the screenshot 1 below. This is basically just two images placed over the text box with a 3mm text wrap on each side. In the first screenshot only the right side of the text wrapping on the second image is being applied. However I re-exported the image as a .png did a replace document and re-applied the same settings and the text wrapping is now applied correctly as shown in the second screenshot, swapping back to the .svg image causes it to break again. Actual positioning left a mess for illustration purposes. As it looks like this is a bug with the interaction between .SVG and text wrapping. I will create a new post on the bugs forum for the developers.
  14. Thank you that has done the trick. I wont even pretend to understand why it works on the text frame and not when applied to the group, but it is the result that counts. Thanks again for your help. I learn a little more with each problem solved.
