  1. Squeaky Wheel - Bump "Affinity" any closer to getting this done. Love your products Really need this feature Cheers
  2. @v_Kyr Yes I agree - I wanted to bump this topic into a newer 2.0 forum. "I know I am a Sad/Mad optimist" You got to keep trying. I believe in Affinity - they can do it.
  3. The other option would be a 'Blob Brush' again done in 2 seconds. Again challenge anyone to do this in affinity designer as a vector in 2 second. Invaluable time saver for any designer. A 'Blob Brush' I believe this would be a more efficient use of computing power as it would auto expand and join together resulting in less individual curve layers. I love affinity products, this for me is the one feature that is missing.
  4. did this in 2 seconds I challenge anyone to do this in affinity designer in 2 seconds
  5. Artistic Calligraphic brush A vector angled/tilted brush for hand writing with my pen tablet. I know it sounds extremely simple – it's one of the default brushes on Adobe Illustrator not found in Affinity Designer. The Illustrator Artistic Calligraphic brushes look like this...
  6. Affinity -Please- it has been ‘Nine Years’ That’s right 9 years ago that this has been requested. For me it is the ‘Elephant in the Room’ for Affinity. I have spent 1000’s of hours designing art work this is crippling me. I cannot do the artwork in pixel it needs to be vector. At the very least can you create a ‘Blob’ brush with calligraphy pen options. I believe this would be a more efficient use of computing power as it would auto expand and join together resulting in less individual curve layers. The crazy part is calligraphy is only about 5% of my design work yet I use the calligraphy pen for 95% of all my design work even my finished work, 5% is adjusting vector points - I have found this to be super-fast time efficient work flow. 10 times faster than the current affinity designer vector workflow. The difference is like wearing gloves and using crayons to do my line artwork in affinity. Yes! I have spent 100's of hours in affinity trying to replicate the work flow and No! it can’t be done 'efficiently' in Affinity’s current state 2.1 Again, Affinity is awesome in every other way. Help me kick from my dependence on the adobe calligraphy brush and blob brush. Then I can kick 'Adobe' to the curb.
  7. @ Guenterm yes this would be great if it was ‘Vector’ but is not vector it is ‘Pixel’ The ‘Affinity’ you have hand written above with a ‘Pixel’ pen would have taken you 20-30 second Now I challenge you to replicate it exactly in affinity designer as a ‘Vector’ to get the genuine hand drawn look could take you hours. In Adobe Illustrator it takes seconds to do. Be careful how you spend your time learning if you want to do efficient vector calligraphy then at the present time 'Affinity Designer' ranks on the bottom of the list from all the vector graphic suites including the “free” options. Don’t get me wrong I love 'Affinity Suite' for everything else I really like the work flow of both personas in one place.
  8. @Old Bruce thank you for the info with pixel brushes I played around with your suggestion and got similar results @stokerg I thought it was something like that - I use the tilt brush in about 30% of my design work. What takes me a matter of minutes to develop a rough hand drawn text styles with the tilt brush would likely take me hours to reproduce in affinity. Especially when I am trying to get that realistic hand drawn look with a slight individual roughness that can be expanded to any size without losing any quality. The tilt brush is by far my #1 go to brush I use it for all my rough sketching, rough drawn text layout. I get way more happy accident with this than any other brush. I appreciate you taking time to reply, I am enjoying affinity and really like having both the pixel and vector in the same app. I will continue using and learning with affinity design for the other 70% of my design work.
  9. This topic was raised in September 2016 it appear to have fallen off your radar?? Can you please be honest with your reply, can you or can you not do this? I am new to affinity designer. I do not want to waist my time learning more of affinity designer if this feature cannot be added in the near future. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/24563-designer-angledcalligraphic-brush/ Summary content from the forum post: ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................. "I'm trying to look for an angled/tilted brush for hand writing with my pen tablet. I know it sounds extremely simple – it's one of the default brushes on Adobe Illustrator – but I can't seem to find it on Affinity Designer. Everything is rounded... Some taper off a the ends. But none are actually angled. Please help!" The Illustrator Artistic Calligraphic brushes look like this... ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ For me this option is 'THE MOST' used brush in all of my illustration work. This option will take affinity designer to the next level of professional designing. This should be a priority if you want to attract more professional designers. I am confident that other designers migrating from illustrator will back me up on this. This is the only feature stopping me from a full migration to affinity designer. I love affinity designer and all of it features this one missing feature is a show stopper for me. Hoping you can help Grant
  10. Similar thing happened to me I installed 1.8.3 update opened fine, ran for about 2 - 5 mins selected ctrl+Z affinity designer froze. Had to use task manager to 'end task' from there on in it would not open files selected x to shut down said waiting for file to open sat there for 15 mins did not open. re-did the 'task manage thing' tried twice more, restarted PC, same results. uninstalled 1.8.3 - reinstalled 1.8.2 (that had been working fine prior to update). 1.8.2 had the same issue would not load any files. I performed a Ccleaner registration clean, this worked for me: Some of my registry must have got a a bit screwy after the update. I will continue running 1.8.2 for now and wait for 1.8.4 and try again.
