How to have a sketch from a photo(JPG)?

Recommended Posts

In the photo, I want to have s sketch of the seedling. Then use the sketch somewhere else.  The only way I can think of is to use Pen Tool to create another layer. But are there any more efficient way?

If I use pen tool to sketch the seedling, it's easier with a white background. Can I use "adjustment" to make the background white or transparent?

  1. Crop the image to the plant pot of seedling
  2. Use Filters > Detect > Detect edges
  3. Use Layer > Invert
  4. Use Filters > Colours > Monochrome Dither.

You should end up with something like this
