I know I always seem to be banging on about PagePlus but in many ways it contains brilliant new thinking about DTP which puts it streets ahead of InDesign. I mainly refer to the ability to customise one's workspace and even to save a variety of workspaces for specific purposes.

It is possible to select custom icons for most drop down menu choices and incorparate these into the toolbar. One may design and use a personal toolbar and I find this very user friendly.

If Publisher can incorporate this ability in the future I'm sure it will please many ex-PP users.
