Rik
I hope this is not a silly questin! But, why has a version of 'Affinity Designer Beta' just been released? Affinity Designer already exists as a programme/app. So, I'm confused. Paul Bravery 1 Quote Art & Logo Design
Paul Bravery
It's not a silly question. The Beta releases are for testing prior to the next update on the App Store.
Rik
I can see that. But, the reason for my confusion is that we've had many updates to the product, and not had a beta version since the full product was released. Thank you for the reply, Paul. Paul Bravery
Hi Rik, Have you downloaded the latest Beta? I haven't, but I believe it also uses the re-branded icon set.

Hi Rik, In the Affinity Designer Beta forum there has been a new beta version uploaded almost every week since the release of the product to the App Store in October 2014. We've been actively testing every step of the way! :) When a beta is good enough, it is submitted to the App Store and then this becomes the next official update... Thanks, Matt
Rik
Hi Rik, Have you downloaded the latest Beta? I haven't, but I believe it also uses the re-branded icon set. Yup. I downloaded and installed it. Yes. It has the new icon. I'd love to be able to say which I prefer! I just cannot make my mind up. They're both brilliant. Though the words 'icon set' would mean that the icon can be changed - as you can in windows, by going to properties and selecting a different icon. Can this be done on Macs as well? Do they include more than one icon, per programme? (You can tell that I'm not an expert on Macs, can't you?!) Quote Art & Logo Design

I didn't know that you'd been releasing beta versions. As far as I knew, we got notifications as to when there was an update in the App store. Thanks for that, Matt. LilleG
You will get an update notice from the App Store when the MAS (Mac App Store version) is updated by Affinity. In the meantime, once you have downloaded either the Designer user beta or the public Photo Beta, whenever you open either, it will notify you if there is a new beta to be downloaded. Hope that helps.
