Kathy Metcalfe Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Hi since the upgrade I can't drag and drop photographs from my folders into picture frame rectangles in my document - any ideas why? I'm working on Mac and have my pictures saved in dropbox folders and have previously been able to drag and drop them over. I can still use "place" from the file drop down, its just quicker to drag and drop! Any hints gratefully received - not sure whether its something I've done by accident or whether its the upgrade! Dan C Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Hi Kathy Metcalfe Sorry to hear you're having trouble! I've tested this here using a Dropbox folder and there's no issue with drag and drop. Could you please confirm the following - What file type are your trying to drag and drop? If you move the same file from Dropbox to a local location - such as your desktop - then try dragging this into your picture frame, what is the result? Many thanks in advance! Quote
Kathy Metcalfe Posted September 5, 2019 Author Posted September 5, 2019 Thanks Dan, I am entirely on Mac so I take photos with my iphone, they are in icloud and I then pull them over to my dropbox project folders, stored as jpegs. Ive done this for years in InDesign before I swapped and now with Affinity and it has always worked, and obviously you are not having problems with this method! I've tried putting the photos onto my desktop but they still ping back :-( Quote
Dan C Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Thanks for confirming that, could you please upload one of your files to the following link so I can look into this further? many thanks! https://www.dropbox.com/request/tH4INR6Vl5W5QE2A0dRU Quote
Kathy Metcalfe Posted September 5, 2019 Author Posted September 5, 2019 Thanks Dan, I'm uploading a draft document and a few photographs, all kept in my dropbox folder. really appreciate your help! Quote
Dan C Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Thanks for that Kathy, I downloaded your .afpub file and opened it locally - then tried dragging and dropping an image that had been saved locally from dropbox, one that was stored in the cloud, and one stored on my desktop. In each case the image was placed correctly into my text frame, as can be seen below - Pub D&D.mp4 Could you please provide a screen recording of what happens at your end? If you're unsure of how to record your screen, please see here - https://support.apple.com/HT208721 Quote
Kathy Metcalfe Posted September 5, 2019 Author Posted September 5, 2019 Ahh....thats how it used to work for me! here is what happens now..... Screen Recording 2019-09-05 at 10.05.18.mov Quote
Dan C Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Thanks for the recording, could you please confirm what version of MacOS you're running? It may be OS version specific. Quote
Dan C Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Thanks for that, I'm running Mojave here also. Do you have a secondary display connected to your Mac? Quote
Kathy Metcalfe Posted September 5, 2019 Author Posted September 5, 2019 yes I do, and I've tried it working just on my mac without the second display connected as well as all other options! Quote
Dan C Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Thanks for confirming that Kathy. I've tried replicating this on 3 separate Macs, including a MBP connected to an external display and I'm able to drag and drop any of your images directly into Publisher. Have you restarted your Mac since this issue was introduced? It may be worth Logging out of dropbox, restarting your Mac then sign back into your Dropbox and try drag and dropping another image. If this still doesn't help, please start a new, blank document & place a singular image frame on your page then try dragging and dropping an image. Does this work as expected? Quote
Kathy Metcalfe Posted September 6, 2019 Author Posted September 6, 2019 Hi Dan, Thank youI', so grateful - I'd done a restart but hadn't fully logged out of Dropbox, which seems to have done the trick! Thank you, sorry if you've spent a long time on this problem - I will remember next time to just try something simple! :-) Dan C 1 Quote
Dan C Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 I'm very glad to hear it - no problem at all, it's what we're here for! Quote
