How to split segment?

I'm probably just stupid or something, but I can't find a way to do this basic thing - 

In Affinity Designer, how do I split a curve segment into an arbitrary number of pieces of equal length?

Failing that, how do I at least split it in half?

Is this curve a straight line?

if so just make a curve of the required segment length and use power duplicate (cmd + J) to replicate that segment as many times as you like.

It might be, it might not be. Segments can be straight or curved you know. I'm looking for a generic solution as it's something I need to do often.

But assuming it's straight, how do I measure a segment's length so I can divide it by however many segments I want? How do I then align the segment to point exactly at another point?

In Blender you can just use the "Subdivide" command and that's that.
