Can someone explain the difference between ROMM and ProPhoto - after installing Affinity does that install both to my Windows OS, so both are accessible by other applications? If I save HDR pictures in these profiles which will be most commonly understood by other people's PC's, i.e. what's the best option when shipping true HDR images to other applications and people on other systems?

Thanks,

Roland.

Thanks for that, and the link. Do you know about the second part of the question? Is it normal that people have either ProPhoto or ROMM color profile on their PC (including people without Affinity Photo) so that if I create images I can be fairly certain that people will be able to open the images correctly, or would I be heading for trouble as most people either have only one or neither ICC profile installed?

Unfortunately, it is not that simple. Some apps ignore embedded color profiles even if they are installed on the device, so the general rule of thumb is to use sRGB (the "s" stands for "standard") unless you are certain that the app & device can & will use the wider gamut ROMM/ProPhoto one.

Those are wider gamut ICC profiles which may not be usually as default available among other peoples computer systems or portable devices (tablets, phones etc.). So you would need at least to embbed a profile when sharing images, or use the overall smallest common denominator, namely sRGB when sharing images. The later is the usual common which all OS and devices know to deal with.
