Straighten tool not available in Publisher (Mac)

Recommended Posts

Hello,

From within Publisher, I am able to crop a photo but not straighten (rotate within the crop). This feature works in Photo but not Publisher. I contacted Affinity and they said that it would be fixed asap but it's still not there. I'm running version 1.7.1 of Publisher.

I responded to your feedback topic with some ideas about approaches when using linked or embedded document-based images (.afphoto, for example).

I don't think the lack of Straighten is a bug in Publisher. In Publisher a true Crop like Photo has would crop the entire page, not just an image on the page. So the Crop Tool in Publisher is the vector-based Crop Tool from Designer, even when you're in the Photo Persona. That vector-based Crop Tool is used to crop an object. The Crop Tool from Photo is designed to crop the entire document.

The Photo Persona still has that Crop Tool, including Straighten, but only when you're working on an image, in its own editing tab/window. It doesn't make sense when you're working on the document page.
