benembery
I have been working on a document for the last 2 weeks with no trouble. Last night I was making a few final amends in a text box and what ever I did caused the app to crash. Now the app crashes every time I try to reopen that file. With other files there is no problem but, this particular file hard crashes the app (forces app to quit) consistently. I've tried the following: Resetting all settings to default Uninstalling the app and reinstalling. Taking a backed-up version from Time-machine (pre-inital crash) and reopening and still it crashes. Any tips on how I might be able to work around this? The following error/faults are logged in the console when the Publisher attempts to open the file. rejecting write of key _DKThrottledActivityLast_DKKnowledgeStorageLogging_DKKnowledgeStorageDidInsertEventsNotification:/app/usageActivityDate in { com.apple.contextstored, root, kCFPreferencesAnyHost, no container, managed: 0 } from process 2614 because setting preferences outside an application's container requires user-preference-write or file-write-data sandbox access Couldn't write value for key _DKThrottledActivityLast_DKKnowledgeStorageLogging_DKKnowledgeStorageDidInsertEventsNotification:/app/usageActivityDate in CFPrefsPlistSource<0x7f904ae113b0> (Domain: com.apple.contextstored, User: kCFPreferencesCurrentUser, ByHost: No, Container: (null), Contents Need Refresh: No): setting preferences outside an application's container requires user-preference-write or file-write-data sandbox access Edited June 27, 2019 by benembery
Staff Jon P Posted June 28, 2019 Staff Share Posted June 28, 2019 Hi benembery, Can you attach the file here and I'll take a look. Do you have any additional info about what exactly was being done in the last session before the crash? Did the text box you were editing contain pinned images by any chance? benembery
Hi, I was about to make an simple text update, and no there were no pinned images in text frame. I'm unable to attch the file due to data protection, I'm happy to chat to you over PM about the reason for this. I've tried opening this file on my work machine that's not used Publisher before and managed to grab (and submit the crash report) I'm not sure if you get these? Thanks, Ben Edited June 28, 2019 by benembery
Staff Jon P Posted June 28, 2019 Staff Share Posted June 28, 2019 The above dropbox link is only viewable internally and the file would only be used to testing purposes, but I understand if there are reasons it can't be shared, it just makes looking into this a lot harder. We do receive reports if it is set to share them, but if you attach it here (they can be found at %appdata%\Affinity\Publisher\1.0\CrashReports) I can have a quick look at the report and might be able to indentify if it is a crash we are aware of (we have seen a few files crash on open). benembery
I've PM'ed you why I couldn't send you the file, sorry about this. I've shared the crash report from the Mac crash dialog, but I'm unable to find the CrashReports folder on my Mac, is that the Windows path? It's a shame because when I opened this on my work machine, the file opens and asks for the linked resources to be resolved, the app only crashes once the resolve dialog is closed.
