robertmoore Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 I am working through the tutorials to learn Affinity Photo for the iPad. The gradient tool in the photo personna is repeatedly referred to, yet when I select the tool that looks like the gradient tool it is just the Fill Tool. What do I do to find the Gradient Tool? Quote
DM1 Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 @robertmoore If you apply the gradient directly to you image you will destroy (fill) the image layer. It is a fill tool that applies different styles of gradient. To use it, you need to add a new layer (pixel, fill, Adjustment, vector) and apply the gradient to that layer then set that layers blend mode to overlay (or other depending on desired effect). You can add points to the gradient, change type, colour opacity etc. You can clip the new layer to your image layer to constrainthe effect to that layer. There is a good description in the built in Help file. You access it fro the Home screen by tapping the ? In the top right of screen. Type Gradient into the search bar. robertmoore Posted June 23, 2019 Author Posted June 23, 2019 Ok, got it. Thank you for your help. It was just confusing me because the tutorial keeps referring to the "Gradient Tool", and that's what it is labeled in the tutorial video, but when I go to the icon in the photo personna on my ipad that it refers to it is labeled "Fill Tool". Yes that seems to be a mistake worth reporting. Either update the help file or correct the tool name. Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen).
