Smudge tool strange behaviour

In A Photo 1.7 the smudge tool has a very strange behaviour . What I mean is best to see in the screencast I made.

I assume you are referring to the 3 concentric circles?

If so, these appear (with any tool) when the brush is larger than the area you can see on screen.

I guess as a warning that you are going to edit parts of the image that you can't see, which may not be advisable!

Hello Aammppaa,

Thanks  for thinking with me, but that is (was) not the issue. I'm referring to the stretched brush if the brush width is below 600 px and that the brush is not smudging. 
BTW I think I may have found the answer. The smudge tool depends of the brush chosen with the paintbrush (B).

I may have chosen a brush that is not working well with the smudge tool. Couldn't figure that out last night.

Different brushes will indeed change the look of the smudge tool - can achieve some interesting effects.

Glad you got it sorted.
